So this is where I'll be running my little Plog and Blog about my guard. So far I've got about 80 models. I'm hoping to get a couple of hundred. I've been reading a few of the Valhallan inspired books. Originally I read Rebel Winter, which is based on Vostroyans, this then lead me down the dark path to the other snow fairing folk.

I'm not that great at painting but I do like to paint, I like converting more, whether it just be hacking up models and doing weapon and head swaps or buying lots of resin goodies and changing the feel of things for the better.

On that note then, my tanks or as the Battalion knows them the Rippers are converted from all kinds of goodies from various websites and model kits. They're loosely based off the KV2 Heavy Tank.

I'll try and update regularly

Regards,Howie

Just thought I'd show some of the troopers off. Got another 15 in front of me to be painting, been plundering ebay recently.
I've also had 40 of them commission painted, I'll get pics off them next week when I'm back at home.

Regards,
Howie.

As a fellow Valhallan player, I'm happy to see some more of them on Dakka! Are you going to go for a standard uniform color, or will it always be this variety of coats? I also really dig the KV-2 conversion you've got there.

Check out my Youtube channel!

It'll be a pretty standard brown or grey trench coat. Keeping it simple. That way I can continue to paint squads of 'em. I'm deciding whether to paint a new platoon in white coats lead by Captain Al'Raheem, sort of scout esque look about them.

Thanks for all the nice replies guys, if I receive such niceties every time I'll be on here none stop. Just thought I'd show off the turret of my other ripper tank. Green stuffed some sand bags for the driver.
I've had a rather spend tastic weekend.

I bought 25 of the SW Greatcoat legs:
http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47_89&products_id=460

I bought 30 of the Maxmini Greatcoat legs:
http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=182

Bought 50 of the VM shotgun arms and some of heavy weapon troop bits:
http://cdn.highwire.com/2513959-shotgun1.jpg

I'll give my opinion on them when I receive them
These will be creating my Urban/ Trench fighting platoon. Next weekend will see me being a very busy giddy man indeed.

Any who back to painting the Commisar Lord on my desk

Regards,
Howie.

EDIT: Also just won 3 of the oop guard tank crew on ebay, the army grows, the wallet shrinks.

Evening Men, Fiends and Women.
Today's entry is sponsored by Expendables 2. What I've been watching while painting. Excellent.

I've been doing the rounds on Ebay recently and shall show you 20 of the 60 Valhallans I've won on Ebay, they're in varying states. All will be stripped.

Also for your consideration is a Storm Trooper. I've got 20 with 4 flamers. I was either thinking of painting them up and seeing how much ebay would eat them up for or just do the right thing and keep them.

Along with all that I've got 2 Troopers, a Sgt and a Commissar. None of which are finished by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks for the kind words Scrazza. Appreciated.

Forget Avengers Assemble this is Ebay Assemble.
I spent a little bit too much this month on the old ebay but I have amassed a god awful amount of Valhallans. Life is good.
Spoiler:

I though I would also give an update on how my tanks are coming along, as these are obviously the most important part of a guard army
2 are nearly completed painting wise, I just need to give them there newly aquired blast shield making them look like they're truly armour 14.
2 much more Wip Ripper Tanks.

Thanks for looking C&C always wanted,

Regards,
Howie.

I think i remember seeing that lot on ebay! It was pretty expensive when i last looked at it (The guard sarge in the middle) last.

Overall its coming along nicely. The tanks are ace and very neat!

Following as ever!

*can you check out my Tanith 1st and only blog?* It could use some critics in it ?

Not much update today. The progress has been slow for sure. I did however manage to get a game or two in down the local store.

Played some Sisters of Battle which didn't hold up entirely well against all the pie plates and las fire I was throwing at them.
Spoiler:

2nd game was against a Necron army. Much more competitive game play which had me crippled in the first turn.
Spoiler:

I also got my delivery from secret weapon games and maxmini. I like them both, I think the maxmini ones are possibly the better of the two. Will give some photos and a proper review when I get more time.

Stay tuned folks.

Thunder from above:

I thought I'd have a go at repainting my Thunderbolt today. A few hours spent doing the basics. Tomorrow I'll work more on the weapons and the detailing.

While this is all going on I'm working on my other 2 Ripper tanks and trying frantically to put on the dozer blades on the first 2. They're not taking to kindly to them, very awkward to put on as there's no space to use the Rhino attachments and the original dozer blade attachment is a real chew on.

Any who on to what you're here for Pictures

Howie.

So progress has been slow, I managed to slice into my thumb. Like all hobby vets I put on a brave face and hobbied on through. Put together a few of the Victoria Lamb bits and came up with the driver for one of my two new hellhounds.

I also have a question to ask. What're your thoughts on having the standard chimera tracks on the new hellhounds? My chimeras have them on and so far it's only the Leman Russes that have the Blood Industries tracks. Feelings?

Howie.

In this post I show how the Valhallans loot a looted basilisk. It's all about recycling. I haven't had the ability to do quite as much hobby as I'd like over the past few weeks, regretably I left my paints at home while I was last up visiting. So I've only been able to do a bit of modelling. Although it won't look very uniform, I think I'll have one of the griffon mortars tracked with some of the resin tracks. As the chassis stands currently I don't know how receptive it'd be to having the normal tracks.

So without further ado, I present the 3 newest tanks to the 2nd battalion.

Regards,
Howie.

Very nice. I really like the tanks. And the thunderbolts.

I need to start a blog on here for my Valhallans. I could post a bunch of pics I've already taken, but very few WIP shots as my WIP is slim to none.

Also, I'm this close to stripping everything and restarting them all in a different color scheme.

It's always good to see more Valhallans knocking around, Gives me more sources to steal inspiration from, I rarely have infantry wips as I usually like to bang them out in a oner. Vehicles however are a different kettle of fish,

Long time no speaky.

So this installment brings forward some heavy artillery. An Armageddon Pattern Basilisk, bought from Warseer on the cheap, the inside was already painted and like heck was I painting it again. It's most of the way there, just need to weather it some more paint the crewman and then put the snow drift on it.

The infantrymen is a new batch of troopers, It's made up from maxmini legs and victoria miniatures shotgun arms, torso and head are GW. Still need to pain the base.
I don't know whether to leave the grey as it is or highlight it up, so it's not just a wash. Any thoughts?

Best Regards,
Howie.

As no one liked my last installment here's tonights effort. It's good being on Duty. Means no alcohol and I have to stay in.
So the army gets painted Haha.
Painted one of my Ripper tanks, as is my style it's not finished but it's up to scratch that I'm happy enough to call it good enough for now. Soon as Victoria Lamb releases the winter heads the multi part Valhallans shall be put forward.

Howie.

Thanks. It's ok. One day the Valhallans will get the love they deserve.
Thought I'd show the troopers off, they're headless at the moment, but I'm waiting for the Victoria Lamb winter heads.
As it stands they're made up of Secret Weapon legs, Maxmini legs, Victoria Lamb shotgun arms, cadian torsos with a few victoria lamb ones.

Good evening folks,
It's the night before Christmas and I thought it'd be a good time to show an army shot of my current force strength.

150 Valhallans, a mix of troops, specials, heavies and HQs.
On the left there's the scrapyard, old tanks which are going through the process of being renewed.

The troops are about 50/50 painted. Looking forward to painting more. Just basecoated & based roughly 60 of them today. A very fruitful day.

Regards & Merry Christmas!

Long time no post.

So I've just got back from 7 months in Afghan and I didn't take any of my Valhallans out there with me. But now I'm back on home soil I thought I'd jump straight back in with the Valhallans. I don't know if I'm collecting a playable force any more or just collecting a cool looking group of models (My opinion of course) for the sake of it.

So on with some pictures already.

Any thoughts just post them.

Kind Regards,
Howie.
