So a couple of guys in my FLGS have started playing Warmachine/Hordes, I had actually looked at it a few years back before I got into 40K but nobody I could find locally played so I went with the what everyone else was playing. Now don't get me wrong I like Warhammer and have built myself quite a collection a of a couple of Armies but I have still gone back to the Privateer Press website looking at the different Armies. Now that there are a couple of guys playing I have decided to give it a run. I bought the rule book for Hordes, I just like the look of the models better and am now trying to narrow down between two of the Armies I really like both the Circle Orboros and Legion of Everblight. What is everyone's thoughts on these two armies any help would be appreciated.

You played what in 40k? Necrons and BA? Yeesh, both of those factions are pretty far from those two 40k armies...

Circle Orboros is a fiddly, movement intensive army who uses positioning and deep strikes to win. It is a scalpel in a sword fight.

Legion of Everblight is a Beast heavy faction (in that there is more beast support than infantry support) that is also very good at manuver, but is much better than Circle at ignoring the effects of terrain and get some egregiously long alpha strikes. They are very fast, very aggressive, and fairly weak on defenses (with notable exceptions,) making them a glass cannon army. LoE is a dagger in the back from the shadows to a swordfight.

If you played Dark Eldar in 40k then LoE is a good transition in terms of playstyle and even look. Circle takes a bit more getting used to, but is capable of no less impressive feats of carnage, it just requires more planning and patience than LoE does. IMO Circle is the most finesse intensive army in WM/H, and much like Tau in 40k (or DE for that matter) is not an army I would recommend beginning with. But, given the number of LoE players in the game, I guess I'd go with the lesser of two evils. Go Circle.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

I guess I'm of the mind for me it's just about as much the models and back story as it is the game play ...when I started with my Necrons everyone said I was crazy cause they were one of the hardest armies to play in 40K but I did it anyways cause I like the models and I play them pretty well I think. I think given the opportunity I can learn to play any army and play them well ....thanks for the input. I am always open to suggestions on how to play either of these armies well

Nagashek is on the money. LoE is my prefered army. I had to lose a lot to get down the lessons on how to play the army effectively. Beast by their nature are not going to weather a ton of damage like a heavy warjack will, but you can heal them with your warlock.

Pick up the Hordes 2-player starter box and start both armies.

My advice is to go with the models that you like best, but then, I'm the type of player who can't get into an army if I hate all the models for it.

I play Circle myself, and I like it.
