This is the 2k points list I was running right before 3 Flying Deamon Princes, Fateweaver and/or Flying Bloodthrister and Flamers and Pink Horrors became the list to beat and hadn't taken a loss till it ran into that. I'm now working on the variation more IG heavy probably to deal with that (so any ideas would be appreciated) but this is what I mean by using your units as a surgeon uses a scalpel. This is the base list and any larger lists I played just added to it by more Lemann Russes and an Infantry Platoon:

Coteaz 100
Librarian 200 Mastery 2; The Shrouding, Sanctuary, Might of Titan, Nemesis Warding Stave

Company Command Squad 167 CC Has Plasma Pistol and Bolt Pistol, Medi Pack, Vox Caster, Las Cannon team, Two Body Guards; Camo Cloaks

Guardsman Marbo 65

Vindicare Assasin 145

Techmarine 142 Storm Bolter, Nemesis Warding Stave, Rad & Psycotroke Grenades

Psyker Battle Squad (8) 80

Psyker Battle Squad (8) 80

Jokaero 2
Servitor 3 Plasma Cannons
Warrior Acolyte 3 Plasma Guns
Warrior Acolyte 4 Storm Bolters
-200

Crusaders (9) 135

Vetran Squad 160 2 Sniper Rifles, Vox Caster, Las Cannon; Gunnery Sgt. Harker

Aegis Defense Line 85 Icarus Lascannon

Lemann Russ Battle Tank 190 Plasma Cannons, Hvy Bolter
Lemann Russ Vanquisher 250 Pask, Multi Meltas & Lascannon

Usually I'd fit the Psykers in or near the Bolstered Ruin since only 1 of them needs to draw line of site I'll only have 1 visible any given turn, but Coteaz's Squad (Joakero,Servitors & Acolytes) always gets first priority. Rolling on Divination he gives Prescience to his squad and a Psyker Squad generally unless an opponent is close in which case it goes to the Crusaders and Techmarine before they charge it. Usually the Squad will be ignored as it poses no immediate threat, but if going against another shooty army they are prepared for a march up the field. The Librarian is usually placed hidden and casts shrouding around the squads in the ruin giving them all a 2+ cover save and is conveniently placed at the bottom so any assaulting units must first go through him. Usually the Vindicare assassin fits somewhere nicely too since he is a 1 model unit giving him a 2+ cover as well.

The Aegis defense line is set up with clear line of site down the field with the veteran squad unless it is advantageous to infiltrate them in which case the company command squad goes in it. Usually there is a short-wall or some cover that is handy to account for both.

Between Pask, Coteaz's Squad, the Vindicare and the Psykers if needed. Any long range fire is Priority #1. It isn't un-common for the Jokaero to roll +12" range, but I take them for the lass cannons and everything else is gravy as that squad has range and gets stronger the closer the unit is it shoots at. The Vet Squad shoots at Fliers and Flying Monsterous Creatures well as well as units on the ground as even as a snap shot re-rolling the other Las Cannon and Sniper Rifles are gravy for the re-rolled Icarus. Company Command Squad has Transports with The Psykers and the Battle tank follows them up unless there are TH/SS Terminators/Paldadins/Thderwolves/Meganobs walking up the front in which case they punish those with equal contempt but that can always wait till turn 2. To be clear with this list: I have no intention of taking my opponent's objectives. Even if theirs are worth more than mine, the object here is Systematic Extermination.

Little confused here. Which army is your primary detachment? Your IG section only has one troops choice, but has 3 elites and at least 2 heavy support which would imply its the primary, but only has one troops choice, which would be illegal. But on the other hand your GK has 2 troop choices and a couple elites as well, which would mean you're using dual force org, which would mean your primary detachment (IG) would need 2 HQ's and 4 troop choices.

I have a feeling I'm just reading this wrong. Is there something I'm missing here. Because otherwise, this list may be illegal (no offense op)

At first glance, it seems like a very complicated list for a very specific terrain set up. There are other options that give you the same results for less points.

For example:

Your vet squad costs you 160 points for some okay fire power, but you could run a dual TL Autocannon Dreadnought with Psybolt ammo for less, and get 4 TL S8 AP 4 shots off into anything down range 48".

The Vindicare assassin is fun, but it's less expensive to equip a techmarine with a conversion beamer or orbital Strike Relay. That way, you have range of the entire board, and a lot more firepower than the Vindicare can bring to bear.

You've also got points spent for Nemesis Warding staves, which only do good a) in CC and b) only if the closest base contact model has them. Given both the Techmarine and Librarians 1 Wound each, they will die to shooty saturation long before they get assaulted. I would spend the points elsewhere.

I would also ditch the plasma. Yes, it looks nice, but any weapon that has a chance of frying your face off each time its fired is never worth it. Same with the lascannons. Yes, they pack a big amount of S, but only get 1 die to roll each time. Drop them and go with something more saturation oriented.

With GK as a Primary or Ally detachment, make use of their unique tricks and advantages. Psybolt ammo is a huge advantage, especially on vehicles weapons.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You've also spent a lot of points to boost cover saves, which can be ignored. Spend the points elsewhere, where it could matter more, like more troops or more ranged special weapons.

Your list is really confusing to read. Most people do allies by having their main list first, followed by the allied list, instead of having the two armies mixed together.

If you are mostly using this guy to give cover saves to your firebase, it might be better to keep him cheap. Maybe drop the stave?

Company Command Squad 167 CC Has Plasma Pistol and Bolt Pistol, Medi Pack, Vox Caster, Las Cannon team, Two Body Guards; Camo Cloaks

Guardsman Marbo 65

Vindicare Assasin 145

Techmarine 142 Storm Bolter, Nemesis Warding Stave, Rad & Psycotroke Grenades

The storm bolter is useless. If you want him to shoot something, use the TL Plasma pistol and flamer on his servo harness.

Psyker Battle Squad (8) 80

Psyker Battle Squad (8) 80

The whole unit dies when you roll a singe perils. Add a single acolyte with no upgrades to the unit. The psykers all die, but you have one random jerk who can score and does not give up a kill point.

Jokaero 2
Servitor 3 Plasma Cannons
Warrior Acolyte 3 Plasma Guns
Warrior Acolyte 4 Storm Bolters
-200

This unit is a little bit all of you eggs in one T3 basket for me. I would make it into 2 units kinda.

The servitors and jokaero sitting in the back shooting stuff. The Plasmaguns and bolters in a chimera moving and shooting

Crusaders (9) 135

why no Death Cult Assassins. a split 5 assasins and 4 crusaders is so much more deadly. Give them a rhino or something to get them moving as well. Walking across the board will kill them.

Vetran Squad 160 2 Sniper Rifles, Vox Caster, Las Cannon; Gunnery Sgt. Harker

Aegis Defense Line 85 Icarus Lascannon

Lemann Russ Battle Tank 190 Plasma Cannons, Hvy Bolter
Lemann Russ Vanquisher 250 Pask, Multi Meltas & Lascannon

Hang on a second. Who is your main force and who is the ally?

Are the russes in a squadron or separate?

Overall you list is okay, but I feel that you are taking too many upgrades and not enough normal stuff.
Does you russ need plasma cannons that often can't fire?
Do you need a mega-pask russ instead of a normal one for 100 more points?
Do you really want a 200 point T3 squad sitting still , when half of it can move and shoot perfectly fine.

if you want more info on running henchmen, then chack out the article in my signature, it is very comprehensive.
