Hi DakkaDakka,

I'm working on a new ACL necron list for an upcoming 2k tournament in December. Here's how the list works:

* Imotekh, a chronotek and a squad of warriors seek refuge in an ark and cause night fighting and lightning for as long as possible
* The Destroyer Lord hangs with one of the wraith units providing lots of preferred enemy everyone, MSS and AP1 war scythe swings
* The stormteks run with the 5 man warrior squads in the night scythes
* The 8 man warrior squad hides near the ark for some love
* The doom scythe does what the doom scythe does - either air support or taking out termies, etc

The one Achilles heel I see is that I only have two troop units that aren't suicide squads. The stormtek squad's job is to plop right in front of a walker or tank and take it out in one turn of shooting. After which I feel pretty comfortable that the enemy will blow them off the board. I could dump the GA in lieu of another squad of warriors - don't know - never run a GA before so I'll be interested to see what it does.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

The entire strength of this list IMO is in the wraith spam, and nightfighting, a tried and true tactic really. The warriors + crypteks are good for a vehicle apiece when they drop, and then are likely toast. Anything more than that, and you'll be lucky.

For objective holding missions, you may have trouble if your opponent actively targets your troops.

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum.

Ok, I've tried Imotek and I'm not very impressed. Lightening is hit or miss and the night fighting doesn't do much for the wraiths who are taking the heat for the most part. Doom scythe also only got in one shot before being dropped. So, new retooled list. Still a wraith wing based list. Played against one of the best players in our club area who was playing Tau w/DA ally. The wraiths managed a turn on assault on his biker unit and kept them tied up until turn 4. He rolled misfortune on his psychic powers. Didn't realize how bad that would be for the wraiths - rerolling saves? Ouch! Stupid me didn't immediately target the unit that was casting it but instead went for the easy pray. Big mistake.

Putting that aside (which I feel really cost me the game or at least a shot at winning the game) the anni barges kicked butt. I focused their fire on a units of DA space marines and destroyed them down to one man in a single turn. Then made my second mistake and started hammering a unit of kroot. I even moved over 6" in one turn, snap shot with the TL destructors and still got 6 hits (yay box cars!).

I dropped the DLord because he kept getting challenged by characters that, unless the MSS worked, would have killed him either with force weapons or what not. So he didn't really perform as well as I thought he should have given his point cost. Granted the PE is golden.

The tank hunter unit did exactly what it was designed to do and took out a hammerhead on turn 2. With the wraiths closing in the stormtek and five warriors were able to hop back in to the night scythe the following turn and fly away. It was a kill point game which I don't think will be my armies strong suit but what the hey?!

I also forgot what the range was on the Tau carbines and got within rapid fire range even though I didn't need to be. That caused the death of both scythes. Remember that for next time, too.
