Stalwart Veteran Guard Sergeant

Hello Dakka Well im a guard player who is planning on starting a Ork warband. But my warband is in its fluff at least led by a Kommando boss who trains every boy to be sneaky and smart. He instead of the typical throw everything at it attempts to bring all da boyz back from the battle by attacking the enemy where they least expect it. So in fluff if he gets impressed by the way some one fights instead of trying to personally kill it like most orks do he has the Runthurders take and capture it rather its a exceptionally tenacious Kroot or a bada** guardsmen. So like i said before he trys to train the boyz good so
1. Would a Ork even ever attempt to take captives
2. Would it make sense for him in fluff to have the captives train the boyz like offering a tau fire warrior life if he teaches the boyz to shoot better
3. What races would take the above mentioned deal
4. Also unlike most orks who are debatebley racist my Warboss is not and in the fluff i wrote he saves a squad of salamander space marines they dont kill him and go on the way if they came across him again and he was in a tuff spot so to speak would they return the favor [b]

1. From what I understand, the Orks don't really ever take captives. If they were able to be taken captive, then they're not a good enough opponent to be worth fighting again.
2. No, the Orks don't really care about things like skill. They care more about brute strength and shiny things. Having a Fire Warrior teaching them to shoot wouldn't really happen.
3. Most races absolutely despise the Orks, really none of them would take the race, and since the Orks wouldn't make the deal, kind of a moot point.

1: Yes, they do. Orks take slaves to do manual labour. This is canon. It is referred to numerous times in the ork codex.
2: Most ork skills are instinctive. As for shooting? Perhaps some ork tries it. Whether he has any success or just grows bored with the captive tau and eats him are equally possible..
3: I think most would take it (people will do anything to get out of death).

1. All the time, we call em Diggahz basically we take slaves but really only to get a huge job done fast or for mostly amusement.
2. Particularly free thinking boyz like freebooterz might give a humie a passing thought to "train propah" but that is really just if they think that humie has some skills they can't accomplish on their own (hard task to convince an ork of btw). Normally though, anyone worth keeping around is someone worth fighin and killing.
3. Orks work on a bullying system, infact the only person universally considered an honorary Ork is Yarrick for being so dead hard to kill that even Ghazzy respects him.
I would say it's possible but a bit of a stretch, now say for example your human is a master shot with a artillery piece the orks might keep you around particularlly blood axes (which happen to be the Klan that loves using Kommandos btw ) but get to the point where you could train the boys within an ork band... sorry wouldn't really happen in large scale a nob wouldn't tolerate a humie taking his spot, and all orks are destine for Nobhood. I dare say even basic orks would rise against a humie trainer... maybe even gretchin.
I would say that you should restructure it, maybe consider having the orks be hired freebooterz who have struck a deal with the guard for awhile or until the boss thinks he will be able to loot the armory it's a much more established circumstance in the 40k universe.

Well im sot of thinking that Sneaky the Warboss was the first of his kind of Ork smart and realizing that Orks cant just kill every thing and need to work together and it makes them stronger. Sort of the Perfect ork by old ones standards and his sort of psyche infuses all the boyz around him

I could also see an Eldar (like a farseer) using the Orks to fulfill another need unknown to the Orks. Talking in a way that allows the Orks to spare their lives, so they can infiltrate the waaagh! or something.

Not to my knowledge, but Orks knew to take Human civilians as slaves.
2. Would it make sense for him in fluff to have the captives train the boyz like offering a tau fire warrior life if he teaches the boyz to shoot better
Orks don't need to learn anything, they are born for war.
3. What races would take the above mentioned deal
I imagine that Tau tried once, but i guess that their negotiators ended up in peaces.
4. Also unlike most orks who are debatebley racist my Warboss is not and in the fluff i wrote he saves a squad of salamander space marines they dont kill him and go on the way if they came across him again and he was in a tuff spot so to speak would they return the favor [b]
Than your Warboss is quite the unique one, only Ork who would help Marines is the one who want's to kill them himself ( "Space Marine" is perfect example for that ).
But your fluff seems interesting, your Warboss would be quite unique.

Tough-as-Nails Ork Boy

1. The most likely and natural thing for an ork to do (no matter the race) is stomp! I doubt they would captives but kamandos can be rather different from other orks. If a squad of kamandos were alone there is a possibility that they would drag an injured enemy away to... enjoy.
2.Remember... orks are stupid. Their rather small but noticeable skill is mainly natural. Even if they were capable of forcing a captive to train them, I doubt they would gain much (if any) skill from the training.
3. It is hard to say what races would take this deal if captured. Here is a list of each race and my opinion in how they would respond:
+Space Marines - Definitely Not, They are way too loyal. They would only take the deal if they were going to sabotage a shoota or perform some kind of heroic dying act.
+Chaos Space Marine - They are very unpredictable
+Tyranid - They can't shoot in they first place
+Eldar - They might take the deal. IMO, they are puny and not that loyal. They have potential in taking the deal.
+Dark Eldar - They are more likely than Eldar to take the deal. IDK much about dark eldar but I think they might take the deal.
+Chaos - Its chaos, you have no idea what they are gonna do, and you never will
+Grey Knight - Refer to response for Space Marine
+Blood angel - Refer to response for Space Marine
+Imperial Guard - A veteran or commissar wouldn't do it. But I think a guardsman might. They fight because they are told to (and who doesn't want a laspistol!), so they aren't really loyal.
+Tau - IMO, tau are wimpy cowards. They don't really seem loyal and they might be willing to teach an ork, or try.
+Space Wolves - Refer to response for Space Marine
+Necrons - IDK that much about necrons, but from what I do know the necron would probably try to blow everything up and then he (or should I refer to a necron as "it") would run
+Sisters of Battle - Refer to response for Space Marine
I really hope this helped, tell me more, about what you think.

Infiltrating Hawwa'
Through the looking glass
|
1. Generally no. They find things, they hit things, the move on to find more things.
2.As already stated no. Orks already know all they need to know to fight. Besides, what kind of ork would take fighting lessons from other races?
3. None because it wouldn't happen.
4. Um, this is very un-orky. The only reason a warboss would save someone is because they can lead him to something even harder to stomp. On top of that, orks infest worlds just be stepping foot upon them. Salamanders are big on helping out humans, and letting an Ork warboss waltz about spreading is pretty unbelievable. Besides the shooting each other on site bit, why would a warboss be alone? Why would that squad be alone? This scenario is simply not realistic. If you want to make your own fluff that's fine, just don't expect people to think it's good. As it stands you're kind of in the same boat as the people who make chaos GK armies.
You might want to read up on orks to understaand them better, or play a more neutral race like eldar.
