hello, so im a painter not a modeler... god knows I've tried lol

so i was wondering how to make clan rats in to skaven slaves?
Ive just started fantasy n have been told many times that i need to have huge clups of slaves but they only sell them in paks of 4-5... n thats crap

so is there a way to turn Clan rats in to slaves n still not look like clan rats?

any thing will help

What I've seen people do is use the less armored clan rats as slaves. Then they add in other armies like empire flagellants/ militia or dwarves or goblins. Then put some heavily armored clan rats in the back rows with whips and prods.

As an owner of a Skaven army numbering somewhere close to 500 models, I concur with Frey.
My slave regiments consist of scores of Knoblars, Goblins, odd enslaved elves, and some of the less armoured Skaven models.

I basically took the clanrats with hand weapons and used them as my slaves. I painted them in greys to indicate drab linen and used the armored rats with spears as my clanrats. I gave my clanrats red hoods & shirts to help distinguish them visually.

oo nice i do like the coloring distinction you did there Breotan. i think i will take that idea along with Augustine's & Freytag93's about taking derps from other armies. n make big mobs of them.

maybe even use some green stuff n my gale force 9 chains to make them more slave chain gang looking. a few magnets hear, some chain there.... muahahahhahahahah

o and just one last thing, does any one have a list of what units from other armies have the same base size as the slaves... Im fairly shur theirs is the small size lol

Big bases that come to mind would be Chaos warriors, Orks, Saurus.

im currently working on a skaven army with two units of 40 slaves if you buy a clanrats boxset it comes with about 10 armored models and 10 models that have more like robes with the odd chest plate on

i used the robed ones as my slaves and i painted them different my clanrats have bright yellow armor and dhneb stone cloth my slaves have just this cloth colour with any armor painted in rusted metal so it looks like the have scavenged it

i also used the more armored of the robed rats to be my command group, in relation to the base sizes they are on the small ones and off the top of my head similar models are empire, goblins, knoblers and i thing vampire skeletons and dwarves
