I just started on a Chaos Army and this is what I think the Paint scheme will look like.
For this Fiend I magnetized arms and head so you can switch between plasma and normal.
I'm still thinking about the basing maybe a desert basing but idk yet.
I still have to do oil washes on metals and skin then highlights on them... so I'm halfway there.

I believe that's a Forgefiend, not a Maulerfiend. But I get what you meant.
And perhaps do some kind of scorched scrub, like there was a forest there but they just set it all on fire? Might be able to make bits of cut down sprue look like logs reduced to charcoal.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights! The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
Your flames look pretty cool - but you're using the template too much.
Practise your dagger strokes and straight lines, and then freehand the flame tips - and knock back the first layers with a layer of translucent orange.
I would also reccommend a bit more contrast - at the moment everything is different variations on orange! Stick a little black or brown in there.
@ AG. Thank you for the recommendations, But for this size of work it is really really hard to do dagger strokes on, Im not saying it cant be done, its just extremely hard and I dont see me doing it without a Temp. Also there is if you watch the video I post below i just followed what he did pretty much to the "T".
@ Requiem yes i did here is the link if you wanna learn how I did it. Please Subscribe he is an awesome Painter and does a great job on Tutorials.
@ Nightbringer's Chosen Thank you that is what I ment and the title was changed my mind spaced when typing this out.
I think the metal work is probably the only thing I did not like about buypainted's helldrake, I felt the gold took too much away from the flames that are so remarkably done on the model. I think something more contrasting might draw the attention to the flames better than "whats that?? OH! COOL!" you get when people look closer. Those flames should be the first thing they notice IMO.
Great job doing it yourself as well! The flames really do a model created from the forges of the warp justice.
Here is the work on my CSM they are Glossy right now because i just got done prepping him and the forgefiend for oil washes but I thought i'd take a pic to show whats going on.
The flames are hard to see on the camera but you can see them a lot better in person also the gloss shine blocks some of the flames as well. You can see it well on the legs and the pack and it looks the same on the shoulders,
When I do the wash and do some highlights and bases Ill post some more pics.
