Eisenkern are a line of plastic miniatures released by Dreamforge Games after a recent successful kickstarter. With the plastic rolling out now at a really high quality, what are peoples thoughts on using entire armies for counts-as IG, SM, and SoB? Would you be happy to see stormtroopers as guardsmen and valkir as marines, or stormtroopers as marines and valkir as terminators in the same army?
If you're happy with the models, would you require 40k weapons, or just "this rifle is a lasgun on all troopers" and so on?
Scale comparison of space marine to storm trooper to valkir heavy infantry:
Plastic shot of stormtrooper compared to a space marine:
Plastic shot of stormtrooper compared to a Cadian:
Plastic shot of the female trooper "Ada", who will be joined by a squad of Black Widows - 10 similar tank hunter ladies:
Edit: Added SoB poll option and Cadian comparison.

I think the wysiwyg isn't too big a of a concern so long as there is consistency. As far as model sizes, seeing as cover is based on 25% volume and not dimension (stupid I know) you'll run into problems IMO trying to run the strom troopers as marines. They'd make excellent actual storm troopers or guardsmen as long as the weapons were consistent (IE all shotguns or lasguns or hot shot lasguns). The question is what do you do for the special weapons like melta/flamer/plasma?

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did. |

There are four weapon options as shown in the sprue contents images spoilered below: - Rifle - SMG - SMG/Grenade Launcher - RPG Not very good melta/plasma/flamer fits. You could argue the RPG is a good melta or plasma fit functionality wise. Best bet is probably GW bitz for that or third party equivalents imo. But I do love those rifles! SMGs would be a good shotgun.

forgeworld elysian special weapons might work. They're a little bit less hero scale.

The Elysian weapons look great.
But it is a bit expensive to only be getting two of each weapon, and not all of them might be used. If just plasma or melta is wanted, those are $10 for 5 from GW.

Elysian weapons would be a good match.
The poll is looking pretty evident where people think it'll work. I was hoping to use troopers as marines (and Valkir as termis), but that might need substantial modification to fly by the looks. Chunkier legs, feet and an SM backpack might be a good start but will have to wait 'til the plastic is in hand to see how it'll look.
Regardless, Stormtrooper Guardsmen and Valkir marines which people seem happy with will be a very sweet army, or Tanith first guard, stormtrooper stormtroopers, black widow SoBs and Valkir SMs would make a beautiful apoc army - especially if you add their own titans ; )
