Bought a squad of Death Korps models off ebay. I was surprised to find they didn't look similar to an older DK squad I had.

I am trying to figure out if the models I bought are authentic. Anyone know how to determine the authenticity of FW models? The ones I bought from FW are on the left. **If you click on the picture, it will open up a lot bigger**

This is where I got em:

Unfortunately you may have bought from a recaster.

Did you buy them from someone from China/Russia/etc with a huge inventory of FW items selling for less than retail price? If so, you got a recast.

Did you buy them from some random person selling a single spare item? If so, they might be real. It's hard to tell from the pictures you posted, and FW has used slightly different resin colors over the years.

Other than the flashing, the castings look OK in those pictures.

If you're happy with your purchase, I wouldn't worry about it.

Doesn't forgeworld have some sort of a certificate of authenticity that it gives you when you buy stuff from them, or is that only on big-ticket stuff?

I agree, though, if you're happy with it, then be happy with it. If you're concerned about things for moral reasons, then just don't buy from them again, or report them to GW or whatever.

I bought it from a German seller on ebay that sells quite a bit of GW and FW items. It didn't come in a FW bag which was the first clue. The second clue was that the sprues look quite different but that may be due to FW changing their casting process.

I did send the pics to FW to confirm if models are authentic but it seems like it would be difficult to determine like the poster stated above.

Not on anything I've ever bought, no. I make at least 3 large FW orders a year for me and my gaming group.

Only on the biggest things (Manta, Titans, etc) and only as a fluffy "congratulations, you own the biggest thing your army has to offer" thing, not an actual legal certificate of authenticity.
