Just wondering what rules would be recomended for 6mm Samurai (particularly Sengoku era) or War of the Roses? I would also be open to the English Civil War, but particularly the other two. Thanks

You could do a quick internet search but many "samurai" wargames tend to focus on skirmishes.

So I would suggest going for a more generic sets of medieval/renaissance rules.

Of late we have being having great fun using the Principles of War rulesets.

Hail Caeser works well in 6mm and could be used for both Samurai and War of the Roses.

I would give Peter Pig's 'Battles in the Age of War' a try. While they're designed for 15mm (PP's range), the basing makes it easy for you stick Baccus strips on the base.

Do Both! 6mm is cheap enough that you could actually consider it. I have heard good things about the Principle of War rules for the Samurai and there a few interesting free War of the Roses rules out there.
A Coat of Steel looks very interesting.

Killer Katanas II could also be a good solution. The rules are written for Sengoku Jidai period and include pretty much everything for large scale samurai battles including siege warfare and a scenario generator. It has also list of clans and their leaders & troops.

I came, I saw and I'm still playing.

Field of Glory and their Renaissance version probably cover both WoTR and Samurai of mediaeval and gunpowder eras.

With the advantage that the base sizes are used by most other Ancient/Mediaeval and Renaissance rules.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
