This would probably be better placed in the army lists sub forum but as it's here I'm going to say boyz, lots of boyz, then after that I'd pick up some big gunz.

Loottas. Hands down the best unit in the ork codex, if not all Of 6th Ed. They take out I fan try, light tanks, and flyers. I know, they don't have sky fire, but going to BS 1 from BS2, not an issue.

After that, boys.

Dakkajets are fun too.

Great model, great in-game, rules are in a WD though, so might be hard to get.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Yes, they're a fantastic unit, but although I think that their dubbing as best unit in the codex is arguable, there is no chance that they are the best unit in 6th ed.

Besides, as the OP already has 20 boyz are a more pressing issue.

This is an issue I've had; my SM scout army would benefit from a Stormtalon, but the WD is nearly impossible to get for a reasonable price. Hopefully a supplement will come out, or they'll start packaging the rules with the model.

To start with, I would write out a more detailed list of what you want. Just try to write up a 1000 point list, and play a few games with it. Then, after playing for awhile, see which units you enjoy using the most, and go from there.

Thank you, sir. It was shamelessly stolen off google images.

But yeah, bikers. Pretty darn good this edition, only problem is that the models are worth their weight in gold. It's what, $41.25 for three? Preposterous. If you have the patience and skill, you could purchase some blackreach koptas on ebay, and look up a tutorial on how to convert them into bikes. It'll certainly run you cheaper.

If you want to go full bikes, you will need to scratchbuild a Wazdakka gutsmek model to take them as troops. Just make a boss on a really bitchin' bike. Nobs and bosses are hard to do on bikers, because they need to look bigger than boyz. Just give them some heads from the nobz box and make sure their weapon arms are quite huge.

Everyone disagrees with how many bikers you should bring in a squad. I've heard everything from 6 to 12, but the most popular seems to be 8-9. I'd start with about three squads of 8-9, a mob of nob bikers about 6 strong, and waz. For fast attack, start with koptas, buggies or jets. Buggies should be mostly sacrificial and used for area denial. Koptas can be run suicidal (really popular last edition) or in large mobs with a biker boss. Dakka jets are awesome for blowing out light vehicles and med-light infantry.

If you know somebody (or lots of somebodies) that bought dark vengeance, you can usually get the bikes off them dirt cheap. I got 21 bikes for dirt cheap a few months ago, and have been just sticking ork torsos, arms, and heads on them. Stick some ork scrap metal and other bits on the space marine legs, and you're golden. I can send you some pics in a PM if you'd like to get an idea of what they look like.

Also, look up Ailaros's Ork Blargh. He's building an ork biker army as well and he's been buying the chassis off a bitz site for 2 bucks a bike, then scratchbuilding everything else that they need. As for the riders, turns out regular ork boyz fit on them just fine with little to no modification. So all you'd have to do is buy the bike chassis (and maybe wheels) by the truckload, and boxes of boyz, and you're set.

this all day, people are alway having trouble getting rid of those bikes. easy conversion too.

if you can still find it I would imagine assault on black reach must be super cheap now. I would get a couple battle forces and a dakkajet personally
