Ok, so I love the stat line on Col. Straken but have never really had the chance to use him. I built this list around him, and tried to take enough dakka in the back to support him.

GAME PLAN
=========
Alright, so the plan is to have Platoon one spread out on whatever objectives are in/near my deployment zone. Harker's squad and the Ratlings infiltrate into whatever ruins they can find (combined with stealth and camo cloaks they'll have pretty good saves). My hope is that they'll make enough of a nuisance of themselves that they can't be ignored. Since they won't be easily SHOT out of cover, I imagine that my enemy will have to try to assault them. Whoever decides to stride out into the open to charge their position become food for my Heavy Support pie plates. With the heart (hopefully) on my infiltrated units, Platoon two Blobs up with Straken right behind. They march across the field directly at the biggest concentration of baddies and hope that enough of them are left alive by the time they get there to capture (or at least contest) one of my opponent's objectives. Assuming that I haven't lost any of mine, and assuming Marbo either suicides on their warlord for that point, or survives long enough to give me line breaker I should be ahead when the game ends.
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? Critiques? I built this list mostly just for fun (in a previous version there was even a rough rider unit in there...) but if I could be having fun AND winning at once, that would be all the more awesome. Please comment below!

im not a big fan of taking heavy weapons on infantry squads i find that they work better in their own units so you aren't wasting shots on a bigger target when the rest could be focusing on different targets that they could do more damage to

Sure, but by putting them in a squad it adds a lot more survivability, by having them by themselves they're just targets that'll get shot down in the blink of an eye. -Dinkins

This is my reasoning as well. I like the idea of heavy weapon squads (being able to issue "BRING IT DOWN!" specifically to a unit of lascannons is awesome), but in practice I find that they get targeted and killed very early on in most games. I'm really starting to look into sabre turrets... they seem to be pretty damn awesome Toughness SEVEN!!

fair enough but you could just slap them in cover or a chimera in order to protect them until you can focus down their big guys that will deal large amounts pain to your squishies and tanks

Can HWT take chimeras? Further more, can orders be issued to embarked units?

hwt can take chimeras, though I am not sure about them taking orders. I know you can order from them, but I'm not sure about the units within.
I would suggest taking a medic with Straken's squad, Feel No Pain for 30pts sounds like a good deal. Also I don't think Marbo will give you linebreaker often, as he not a scoring unit... then again no one can tell Marbo what he can and can't do. Vendettas may make the list a little more competitive, or at least something to handle fliers (defense line, hydras).

Boom! Leman Russ Commander
|
No you cannot give orders to units in chimeras.
Also why have a commissar in a PCS. Its such a small unit and will probably be shot dead before they reach combat, even against most armies, guards initiative 3 wont do anything for you as you will probably be killed before they do anything.
Commissars are best used in blobs. Strakens Buffs also seem to be good for blobs as well.
your PCS with the grenade launchers and lascannon doesnt mesh well, I suggest meltas for it.
The platoon standard is terrible and only the regimental standard should be considered. Trying to get guard to fit a CC role is not a good idea.
If you really need that many ratlings then go for it.
Medusa doesnt fit the list because you dont have any AV 12 targets saturation.
Leman russ really shouldnt be built up in squads of 3 I would only consider squads of 2 so make a squad of 2 and let the other 1 be in its own squad. Or drop the medusa and let the LRBT all work independently so you can shoot more targets.
Also if you dont run into anti air then you wont really need a vendetta, but i suggest dropping the medusa for atleast 1 vendetta.
