Edit: Newer list is below, keep scrolling.

Continuing to make variations on my standard Space Wolves list. A 1999 version of this won me a tournament recently, and I'm looking to adapt this for a 1750 tournament tomorrow.

Wolf Lord w/ Thunderwolf, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor - 225
Rune Priest w/ Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf - 100
Rune Priest w/ Living Lightning, Tempest's Wrath, Meltabombs - 105

Dreadnought w/ 2x TLAC - 125

Wolf Guard w/ Combi-Melta - 23
8x Grey Hunters w/ Melta, Wolf Standard - 135
Rhino - 35

Wolf Guard w/ Combi-Melta - 23
8x Grey Hunters w/ Melta, Wolf Standard - 135
Rhino - 35

Wolf Guard w/ Terminator Armor, Power Fist, Storm Shield - 58
10x Grey Hunters w/ 2x Plasma and Wolf Standard - 170

2x Thunderwolves - 100

Land Raider Crusader - 250

5x Long Fangs w/ 4x Missile Launchers - 115
5x Long Fangs w/ 4x Missile Launchers - 115

Total - 1749

Thoughts? 10 man Grey Hunters go in the Crusader, the Rune Priests join the smaller Grey Hunter squads. Fairly straightforward.

Like the build as a whole, would maybe tweak one or two things though?

I would drop the dreadnaught in favor of some more thunderwolf cav for the lord to ride around with

Buy drop pods rather than rhinos, as rhinos just seem to get glanced to death currently

consider dropping the wolf guard in favor of 2 extra bods and a free 2nd meltagun - your paying 7 pts more for a meltagun that can shoot every turn and an extra wound in the unit.

add 1 more dude to each long fang pack

spare points maybe a lone wolf?

Thoughts would be for me:
Consider taking SofB on your WolfLord so if he is hit my an instant death weapon he isnt taken off the board before they widdle down his wounds

Haven't seen a lot of Dreads in lists lately, not that its a bad thing, just agree with the comment earlier about beefing up the TWC
Maybe consider in place of the Dread a Lone Wolf, Eternal Warrior/2 Wounds/TDA/SS/TH- Plus with his rule, his whole purpose is to be killed, not to survive

I have heard the giving one Rune Priest Divination is good to place with LF squads
Also, consider splitting LF 3 Weapon A/ 2 Weapon B...having 6 will allow for the split (Leader) without hurting your ability to apply punishment?

Agree with the comment on Drop Pods, especially with the short range of the Meltas

if you do go for the lone wolf, give him a chainfist - better than a thunder hammer imho

Alright, so I went 1 - 2 in the tournament, i.e., not too great. However, I felt that the games I lost were more due to tactical mistakes than to the list. It certainly needs tweaking though. I've got an 1850 tournament in February, and here's what I'm thinking of running there:

Primary Detachment: Space Wolves

Rune Priest w/ Jaws of the World Wolf, Storm Caller - 100
Rune Priest w/ Jaws of the World Wolf, Living Lightning, Chooser of the Slain - 110

Lone Wolf w/ Terminator Armor, Power Fist, Storm Shield - 80
Lone Wolf w/ Terminator Armor, Power Fist, Storm Shield - 80

9x Grey Hunters w/ Melta, Wolf Standard - 150
Rhino - 35
9x Grey Hunters w/ Melta, Wolf Standard - 150
Rhino - 35
10x Grey Hunters w/ 2x Plasma and Wolf Standard - 170

3x Thunderwolves w/ Thunder Hammer - 180

Land Raider Crusader - 250
5x Long Fangs w/ 4x Missile Launchers - 115
5x Long Fangs w/ 4x Missile Launchers - 115

Allied Detachment: Imperial Guard

Primaris Psyker - 70
Veteran Squad w/ Demolitions - 100
Valkyrie w/ Heavy Bolters - 110

Total - 1850

The standard valkyrie has 2 missiles and there terrible. Find the extra 20pts and give it the multiple rocket pods or make it a vendetta.

Oh my gosh. Veterans without special weapons, what are you thinking. They have bs4 and can take 3 special weapons and your giving them demolitions! get rid of Demo and give them x3 melta guns.

Change demolitions to x3 melta guns

Get rid of bolter sponsons on the valkyrie and drop 2 long fangs and make that bird a vendetta. Better at anti tank. More reliable anti air and now that you have or should have vets with melta guns that detta just became a tank hunter.

I just dont see the benefit of taking the guard in the list to be honest with you

I still think you will get popped way before you get anywhere near the enemy if you stick with rhinos, pods for all 3 hunter units is definately the way to go.

As for what to replace the guard with, why not considered some wolf guard terminators? or maybe stick with your TW lord and buy him some TWC buddies

I've been using WGT for a while, and they never really did much for their points costs. Pods are unfortunately a no-go due to model restrictions. The guard are there for the flyer and another scoring unit, but I may consider swapping them. How do you feel about dropping the guard and the thunderwolf w/ thunderhammer for a Thunderwolf Lord and a Rifleman Dreadnought?

i would take the thunderwolf lord, and a storm shield or two in the TWC make them a bit survivable

The termi's are only good if survivable so each unit would need a SS but its very much down to player choice if they like them as a unit or not

I would drop the guard and get another squad of Grey Hunters. After that, you'll have 110 points to play with and with them I would either add two more models to your TWC, or add one more with a Storm Shield.

Also...You're spending 160 points on lone wolves. While lone wolves are good, they aren't consistently good. Sometimes they pay for themselves, but usually they do not. Why not drop one of them and use some of the left over guard points to get a wolf priest to go with your plasma GH squad? With the preferred enemy against infantry, your plasmaguns and bolters will be considerably more effective AND you'll not have to worry about your "GETs HOT" rolls.

If anything drop the IG because they are bringing nothing for you at the moment.

I would suggest as others mentioned get drop pods so your meltas will do better and wont get blasted away.

So no thoughts on the list? Tournament is tomorrow.

I would drop the Dreadnougt for some more Wolf Guard Terminators, and take a Redeemer instead of a Crusader. Also give the Thunderwolves all Storm Shields, otherwise they will got shot to pieces before they reach the enemy.

Also take some lascannons instead of 10 m/l, though they are good, I fond its better to have a couple lascannons to give some extra support

Sounds good, but adding all those would put me way over points.
