Are the Models of a similar scale? I.e. Would I be able to proxy Tau ships using Centauri Models without them looking dwarfed or some such? A Picture would be very helpful, if someone owns both(Any ship from either game). Thanks

Keep in mind the Victory (being War level) is pretty much analogous to a Battleship...And a pretty big one at that...The White star (being Raid level) is somewhere between an escort and a light cruiser...Actually I've always assumed that the WS model is actually a little big compared to scale...It's about the same size as a Dark Eldar Escort...Which as we know is really a bit big for an escort but still a little too small to be a true Light Cruiser...
This seems to hold up for many of the mid-level ships in ACTA...If you're looking for Tau replacements I would go Corvan or Haven for Escorts and maybe Primus for Cruiser and Octurian for Battleship...Though I've always thought the crescent shape lends itself better to the Necrons...

Actually, the Victory is fricken' huge by in-game standards. I'v only got a couple other 'big ships'... The full-sized Shadow Ships are quite tiny by comparison.

I have one big shadow ship... The "Battle Carb" as it is sometimes known. If I make a fist and hold it over the model, it about covers it.
Both BFG and ACTA are, as I understand, effectively 'point' systems with the models used for visual appeal, so it's no big deal.

In general the B5:ACTA ships are 30% larger than BFG ships. You could mix them if you wanted BFG cruisers to be destroyer class ships in B5:ACTA, etc. B5:ACTA ships would almost all be cruiser or battleship size in BFG. There are a few exceptions to this and the smaller B5:ACTA ships could fit in with BFG ships. On the small end I think even the smallest B5:ACTA ship is almost twice the size of say a BFG Imperial Cobra. I was shocked at the size of the B5:ACTA models when I first got them as I was so used to the BFG scale. The one problem with the B5:ACTA models is that there are some odd scale discrepancies with a few of the models. For example the Shadow models are too small compared to the other fleets. This is generally not a big deal but could be an issue with some folks. As mentioned, B5:ACTA does all measuring from the stand post and base size is irrelevant so model size has almost no effect on game play. It is just an aesthetic issue.

I never had the core rules, but I liked the ship designs and scale Dream Pod 9 used for their Jovian Chronicles Lightning Strike rules... The 'big ships' were only a couple inches long. I think they did small scale mecha to match (that were still massively huge) or 25mm mecha were used for 'hero' mecha I beleive.
