Well, I got a call from the local Cable co. They are ready to give me an offer as soon as they get someone else promoted up. So it's something anyways! It's my 2nd choice though. The Valve Seal place is my first choice, but I haven't heard back yet. So within a few weeks I'll at least be back to work either way! The pros of the Cable Co. are: close to home, short drive Cons are: 6 weeks days, 6 weeks nights rotating shifts. Pay is not great, but not bad either.

Glad to here something is on the move for you. Here's hoping it all works out how you wish.

6 days/nights sounds slightly rough, are those 8 hour shifts?

I rotate monthly, twelve hour shifts. It can be rough, but with no kids and some creative sleep schedules it is liviable.

Make sure they give you a differential on nights (if that is in fact where you end up!)

I hate rotating shifts trying to adapt to times is awful but at least its work mate maybe something else will come up later but in the mean time it's a wage.

It's 12 hours, 3 days a week, then a 4 hour shift. I'm not crazy about it, but thankfully it leaves a few weeks for the other offer to come in (or not) to decide.

Sounds like a good deal for now as long as you don't start wearing plaid nd start screaming "Git er done!", though blue coveralls could be a problem as well

I have worked at call centers, they usually expect a weekend day.

I used to have my Role play of Dark Heresy on sundays, so I had to have my day for my religion off now didn't I?

No no no, not a call center. Internal level 2-more of a systems monitoring and maintenance gig no outside customers and all that. But yeah, weekends and holidays are part of the deal.
