So, first thought to some newcomers is "why is this not in N&Rs". Simple, really-I suspect, I don't know, that these units are on their way. Why? The current models are 100% non-existent in the current Chaos book. I looked. Throgg, in the army picture, is shown alone: no retinue of trolls. I've seen every other unit shown in the pictures, even something as inconsequential as warhounds. There are no models for them shown and their artwork in the bestiary looks different from current models: all other models match their art. I think we can expect new models in the semi-near future. Again, no insider info, but GW's previous actions suggest it a possibility and likelihood.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Gaulrich too, possibly: he is also absent and his current model doesn't match the art, or the size he should be.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I hope so, I'm not a fan of the troll models on the woc section execpt the boss one. That dragon is probly the uglyiest thing I've ever seen. If I have to Ill buy some other dragon as a stand in.

I personally bought the river trolls from O&G and the ogres from Ogre Kingdoms. Both of which work well for my army. I too wasn't a fan of either models provided by GW.

I mixed Reaper trolls with Chaos Spawn bitz, and my Nurgle ogres were converted (one has a rat coming out of its guts) while Slanneshi ogres were armored ironguts. But I thought people might like to see my musings.

I can't see why they would make new ogres when they can just use the existing ones from OK. There's only one giant model I believe and he's in like 4 books or whatever.

Trolls really need an upgrade. The existing models are really old and clunky. And they're such fun units.

I somewhat agree on No on a full ogre kit

I would think though that a conversion sprue would make a lot of sense since thats how the ogre units work already

New Trolls would be nice, the swamp trolls are excellent (though I wonder if stone trolls will ever come about)

My bet is you'll get a Chaos Ogre upgrade pack for use with the Ogre Bull box. $20, Finecast, and will have spiky chaos bits, a chaos banner, some mutated arms and heads, and some more chaosy weaponry.

They've never shown ogres that mutated. Nothing a scar in the side couldn't fix. Ogres are resistant to mutation. Chaos Dwarfs got a little tuskier but they still look very dwarfen. I could just see some bits for their armor. But even that, I think you could just do with a paint job. Only the guys holding the warshrine are super mutated. I think those are ogres.

Sure they have. Ogres are just resistant, not immune, to mutation.

The only place I've ever seen ogres really mutated was Tamurkhan. Those bile ogres. In the WoC book itself they look pretty much the same as normal ones except a different shade and like a small mouth here or there, like a sticker put on.

They can have 4 marks. I just don't see a market to make that many variations.

So 2 heads isnt a major mutation?

Ok.....

Those things were sculpted before the whole ogre reimagining. Which is why they look so fugly.

The woc book. The current book. The book you are using and looking at to see these very units. Has nothing like this. At all. They look just like OK ogres. Well, zombie-fied.

But if they do, they do. I'm just saying I don't see them doing it when they got perfectly usable OK models.

Trolls deserve an update because multiple races have them and they ONLY have the old metal version (for non-river). But Ogres have IB and bulls. Seems odd they would make the same box with just some extra bits.
