Hi Folks
I have a new list I want to build. Anyone see anything funky in there or that seems odd? I know I have a lot of CG in there, but I do want to have a big pool of cheaper orders to push my heavier guys forward. I was thinking of one of my CG as the Lt, but I do like the -1 SWC from the Hsien Lt. Anyway, I figure it shouldn't do too too terrible. Link up the CG and cover the Crane Agent as he moves forward and takes out what he can. I think I'd toss the Hsien into whatever the biggest targets are, maybe followed by the CG linkteam after I get the Crane far enough up the board.
Any suggestions or changes? Thanks!
-Ave

I'm far from being a rules expert but what's the point of having the Hsien as a Lieutenant if you don't use all your SWC anyway?
You could have one of your CG Lieutenant and still only use 5 out 6 SWC.

Hi AA, welcome to Dakka! (bit late i know, but close enough..... ) and to Infinity!
I like the list personally (i like anything with both a Crane AND a Pheasant in it!) But i have a few misgivings as it were.....I kno you have said that yoiu like the -1 SWC from the Hsien, but do you need it? If you make a CG the Lt, then are you not at 6/6 for SWC, therefore meaning you dont need the -1? also, an Aggressive Hsien is going to be a dead Hsien (at some point), meaning you will be in LoL (obviously)....personally i would make one of the CG the Lt to cover this (and it would also nicely protect them in the Link team).
I am assuming that you are leaving the sniper CG out of the link? Or is the extra (combi or shotgun) there for redundancy?
A final question, is this built for missions? As in that case you may be light on specialists/hackers/engineers...
Also, i have (this week) gotten permission from No. 33 on the official Forums to post his Tactica for the IS, which i have done here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/507411.page
that might hopefuly give you some other pointers...(not that you seem to need them...)

Get the CG with light smoke launchers in, that way you can cover the Hsien and let him shoot through the smoke for extra lolz (Its the closest we can get to combat camo attacks without a ninja)
Also the smoke launchers are the same price as the combis, but 0.5 SWC extra, for which you have the spare capacity.

Thanks for the replies all. I am posting from my phone, so please forgive any spelling errors or messed up wording lol.
M'k Nemesis: the main reason for the Hsien Lt was also for his multiple wounds and higher armour. I figured putting a CG Lt might be a little squash, but I do see your point. Kind of useless to not load up as much as I can on SWC.
Relevant Reiko: Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to give it a good read through. The CG sniper would be either team leader for a higher bs anod burst, or separate and taking pot shots at.targets that come into lof. I don't generally play competitive, I usually play climatic style. So either one of those options should produce something fun. As for mission type I figured just quick skirmish games for this one.
Koganstyle: I will give the smoker a shot! That sounds like it could be fun.

I would try to get in the new Bao trooper sniper instead of the CG. The Bao has an MSV2. Just proxy him with the CG sniper.
Also, the CG hacker is great. I think a bit better for the points over the Agent. Plus there's the new cool figure for him! The Pheasant could be be the one with X-Visor and Chain of Command to take over if the Lt. dies.
Another Hsien with an HMG would be a little better than Crane with Spitfire. He's only 1pt more, the same SWC, with MSV2, +1BS, and better armor. Again, there is also a figure for it.

As for the Sniper - even when taking pot shots you want him in a Fireteam- that gives you, depending on the amount of dudes in the fireteam, more Burst, Sixth Sense and +3 BS.

CDK: But But!!! I want my Imperial Agents!!!! lol. This looks pretty interesting. More Hsien awesome in it. I will try this one out as well, more than likely doing proxy for the models, as I need to get paid again and still have other models I want to get. (Margot/Duroc /drool) Just a quick question in regards to the kuang shi control, is that there just because of the model having the LSGL? I'm guessing I won't be using the Kuang shi... they seem kinda... useless? unless I put them in a seperate group all together? Any suggestions on a force that is mostly irregular Kuangs? I keep forgetting about the Bao (no model = out of sight out of mind yeaaargh) , so i might toss one of those in to check them out.
Alkasyn: +3 BS? Nice i thought i was just +1 haha. i need to skim that rule again. Fairly new to the whole Fireteam aspect of it, as I just usually look at the "vanilla" army lists. Thanks!
Thanks again all, I think I will rework the list a bit. I really want both my Imperial Agents in there as I kinda have a bit of Fluff I want to work into this army, but we shall see. Maybe I can rework the Fluff with a duo Hsien. Infinity seems like an awesome outlet for the fluff sort of thing.

CDK: I completely misread that entry haha. Thanks for the clarification! I messed up the impetuous thinking it was irregular. Go-go reading skills lol.
After looking at everyone's comments and suggestions I went back and re-read some stuff, including rules and some fluff. Didn't realise the Bao were the Imperial Service clean-up crew and with someone suggesting I check out the Bao I did so. This actually fits a bit better with what I was thinking for fluff. Also, they have MSV2... all of them. And they link! Thank you Chromedog, btw, for the great explanation of the bonuses for linking. That helped me finalize a plan for a (hopefully) "fluff and tumble" list.(<--bad pun!)
So the list is quite a bit different. Some major proxy will be done until the Bao have models, but I think I might have more fun with this.

So as suggested, I will be using the smoke from the celestial guard to cover someone with MSV2. Conscidering all of the Bao have MSV2 and can link with the Pheasant rank (fluff style movements) I will more than likely have them as the link with the link leader being the Sniper. I wouldn't think the Agent would do well, but then again he does have the MULTI rifle so maybe I'll try that too. Most of the celestial guard are just cheerleaders, but fluff wise they got dragged in by the Crane rank Agent to provide support where they can. Kind of a "Shake down" group, fluff wise.
Anyways. Critiques? I know I tossed out some heavy armour with the Hsien being gone, but again I want it to play fluffy and fun, so I'm not necessarily looking to win. I think I'll save the "competitive list" to my Haqqislam army
Thanks again to all of those who helped out with rules clarifying and suggestions!

its actually:

4 grants ^ PLUS Sixth Sense Lvl2 and +3 Wip (discover).

So you have 2 links available to you in that list - Crane with CGs and Pheasant with the Bao. Could work very nicely.
Do not ever disrespect the Kuang Shi, they are the 'not at all subtle' hidden weapon of the ISS. They are impetuous, so they run towards the enemy for a free order, thye have chain rifles for crippling those tightly packed smug link teams everyone takes, and if they go unconscious they have the option of either:
a)exploding - which if your near some problematic target, tres amusing!
b) going v:dogged which means he stays alive until you stop spending orders on him or he takes another wound. So he can take a hit, then run full hilt into the smug link team bonus lovers and chain rifles them for the glory of the service (nb: if you choose to go dogged, he doesnt explode at the end)
all that for 5 pts. Hmmm.... SEND IN THE KUANGS!
Other fluffy things I like for the ISS are the Rui Shi and Lu Duan. Check the names out on Wikipedia, I think it adds a nice touch to it.

Well, unless you have some hidden units, it basically paints a big "assassinate me!" sign on the back of the Hsien. The nice thing about Celestial Guard and Hsien is that they have the same WIP and CGs have a 0SWC Lt. option.
So by keeping within your normal SWC bounds and taking a few normal CG along with the Hsien you can freely swap between any and all of them for lieutenant slots. This flexibility is harder to achieve in the standard list because the AVA2 means you can't take the two favourites (smoke and hacker) and use them to hide your WIP14 lieutenant at the same time.
Honestly, the +1SWC is my least used feature on the Hsien since without pulling out reserve-units that cost SWC (Ninja sniper, Garuda), it paints a target on him. It is easier to apply in the standard list, but then, he is harder to hide in the standard list since we lack lieutenant options with WIP14 in high AVA slots.

I know you like the Agent with spitfire but I still think you'd be better off with Hsien with HMG. Also, fluffwise Hsien are higher rank than Agents. They are the top dogs of them all.

True, but aren't the Agents (Crane and Pheasants) kinda like the "leaders" or "masters" of the Bao and Celestials? (might have those reversed?)

I would think so but then the Agent answers to the Hsien. I'm sure a Celestial or Bao would do what a Hsien told them to do lol.

I would certainly hope so lol. Considering how mean and martial-law-abusive that sectorial seems to be, that might be one dead Celestial or Bao. haha. Maybe I'll make another force with the "baddest of the bad" lead by a Hsien or two. I kinda like the sound of that!
Something quick a threw together for laughs after thinking about that haha.
