Deployment
I was slightly worried about his Tankbustas and his Lootas, they could put alot of wounds the Wraithlords and cause alot of problems by forcing a ton of saves on the Guard, Lords and the Walkers. I got to choose sides and picked the one where I had both buildings on my side, I was hoping he'd deploy his Lootas in one building thus giving me the oppertunity to avoid some of their fire. I choose to put my Walkers the furthest away since they would crumble against that amount of firepower. Both of my Wraithlords went on the right side of the board, forcing him to react and protect his Lootas by putting some Boys, the Tankbustas and the Deffkoptas there. I promptly redeployed them with Eldrad and put those squads a turn or 2 away from the action. His Meganobz and the
KFF Mek stayed in the Trukk. After scouting moves this was the board state.
Orks Turn 1
I realized I made a big mistake and handed him first blood by deploying those Rangers there, stupid and not necessary. He glady took advantage of the mistake and finished them off. I retaliated but killing his Warbikes when the charged the big Wraithguard unit, challenging his Nob with Eldrad (without Fortune) was risky. The combined shooing of his Lootas (45 shots) and his Koptas took off one wound on the rightmost Wraithlord. The rest of the boys ran forward and his Meganobs jumped out of their ride.
Eldar Turn 1
Aaaargh, messed the picture up, sorry!
I shuffled around a bit to get good firing lanes and promptly made some more mistakes. The Deffkoptas died to the combined fire of the Wraithguard, Jetbikes and WarWalkers. The same happened to the Meganobz when the big Wraithguard unit fired on them. The Wraithlords shot and missed and Eldrad spread his psychic love around. My Avatar made a 10" charge on the Boyz, that was pretty cool. It was also pretty dumb since I should've just moved my units backwards to give me another turn of shooting, I think this move stalled that side of the board alot more then necessary. I challenged his Nob but he declined and I killed some Boys.
Orkz Turn 2
It was getting pretty crowd on my right side, something that stalled his advance since his units were getting in the way of themselves. My Wraithlord and wraithguard took alot of fire but that's where the Fortune kicked in so nothing special happened. In assault my Avatar lost a wound and some boyz died.
Eldar Turn 2
I tried fixing my mistake with the Avatar but I think I only made matters worse, 1 Wraithlord, 5 Wraithguard and 6 jetbikes entered the fray against the Ork Boyz. My War Walkers took out the Big Mek with their shooting, Slay the Warlord! The small bike unit flew around for Linebreaker (which I screwed up later) and the other units took up renewed positions. With some flamer action and Wraithcannons the Deffkoptas and some boys bit the dust once again. I wasn't making any real progress and it looked like turn 3 was going to be our last :(
Orks Turn 3
Again he couldn't do much but shuffle his units, thanks to overwatch and shooting from the precious turn he couldn't assault the Wraithlord. The big assault saw the Avatar take some wounds, I lost some bikes and Wraithguard and realized this wasn't going my way all of a sudden.
Eldar Turn 3
This was the glorious turn in which the Elite Eldar Wraithwall Army would turn it all around, exept the Farseer that predicted this hadn't taken the stupidity of the commanding officer into account. Not only did I not kill the Boyz in assault, I flew my jetbikes out of his deployement zone and forgot about Linebreaker. Then the Avatar died and my shooting didn't kill enought Orks to kill off the 2nd unit, they made their leadership test on an 8 :(
We had to stop and it ended with me having 6 points (5
KP, Slay the Warlord) and him at 3 (2
KP, First Turn Blood), which gave me a 13-7 victory. We had an absolute blast playing this game so I wasn't to worried about those mistakes, fun is more important to me!
