What would a Liu Bei... er Ye Bei themed Chugoku force look like?

Ye Bei, Kong Ming, Pan Yu, and the Green Eye faction troops the Shu Hare, you can also use Lem Han and Wei Pine I believe...

So with Ye Bei as your general you can take Pan Yu for free (yay free models ), And have them as a squad unto their own.

But basically just Shu Hare kitted out as you like probably with some Lem Han as Cav support.

Ye Bei as your Hero with Pan Yu, a few Lem Han and then a bunch of Chugokuan Color Guard with the Shu Hare trait.

Zhou yu is Bao Yu for red claw's Celestial Tactician. If you mean Zhao yun....well... there are just a too many great R3K heroes to cover them all. I dream of having a long list of exemplars, but we gotta give each faction equal love.

Whoops yeah typed that wrong, but awesome that Zhao Yu is in there too. Completely understandable that you have to limit the number of heros in there, but glancing it over you got the biggies. Can Lu Pang be taken with that Yu Bei setup?

Yep, with 2nd Edition we removed most of the restrictive nature of Chugoku to allow you to easily build an army.

The only real restriction is all Chugokuan Color Guard taken are either Red Wu, Shu Hare, or Wei Pine.

Nice, keep in mind that I'm glancing at the rules as I am at work. I'm guessing 100 resource is the "standard game" but how does the hero levels work and what is the standard?

Hero Levels are basically a '4th Resource', you pump Hero Levels into however many heroes you want (Minimum of 1, Maximum of 5). The amount of Hero Levels is not really linked to the Resource Limit, but a standard game would be 150 Resources and 5 Hero Levels.

But you could easily have 50 Resources and 10 Hero levels.. or 1850 Resources and 20 Hero Levels.

Hmm so Ye Bei is 5 hero levels so in a standard game you can't take Kong Ming too? Also, not seeing where Pan Yu is free with Ye Bei.

Pan Yu is not free with Ye Bei, just ignore Alf until he has slept properly.

And yes, unless you play a Hero Level 10 game you could not take both Ye Bei and Kong Ming

Haha kk, I'm slowing getting the grasp of it. Now doe hero level 5 mean they can go UP to level 5 or they are level 5? The Dynastic King Rank Chart is a little confusing since the only 3 options are all Rank 4.

So far it would be looking something like?

Ye Bei
Pan Yu
Lu Pang
Lem Han x5
Shu Hare x20

or

Ye Bei
Pan Yu
Lu Pang
Lem Han x9
Shu Hare x12

At hero level 5 you get access to a boon. So a hlvl 5 king could have rank 3 of one talent and rank 1 of another with on of the boons. Or 2 and 2 etc...

When plugging Hero Levels into a Hero they get one Talent Point to spend for the first 4 Levels, and then at Level 5 they get a Boon instead.

Named Heroes always have preset Talents and a Unique Boon.

You also have the option to take generic heroes, such as a hLVL 3 Dynastic King and a hLVL 2 Celestial Tactician, picking the talents you want.

Oooooooh kk gotcha, that makes a lot more sense. So in essence you can create a custom hero to represent any of the missing generals . Love it!

Yep

We wanted to make sure you could have a lot of customization, while also having representations for historical characters.

Ok so if I'm getting this correctly this is a legal list.

"Ye Bei" (younger version) HL2 w/ BoK lvl 1, TJS lvl 1
"Kong Ming" (younger version) HL4 w/ Classical Warefare lvl 2, Water margin lvl 2
Lu Pang + x9 Lem Han w/ Medium Armor Upgrade
Pan Yu + x9 Shu Hare w/ Heater upgrade
Fire Dragon

5HL, 145/150/150

One of your heroes needs to be a level lower. Right now you're at HLVL 6.

Also Exemplars don't count towards the 10 model activation limit for a squad, so if you had the points you could have 10 Lem Han and Shu Hare

Would the Fire Dragon be better though then + 1 Lem Han and Shu Hare? Figure it mixes things up a bit and gives me some long range threat.

Yeah goofed on the heroes. Prob drop "Ye Bei" to Lvl 1 Blood of Kings because it's fluffy. Liu Bei was an unexperianced nooblet while Zhuge Liang was vastly more knowledgable when they first met up.

I wasn't sure if you knew that Exemplars didn't counts towards max unit sizes, so if you had the points you could include Lu Pang and Pan Yu in 10 man units and activate all 11 of them at once.

And idk about Lu Pang, I'm trying to find a suitable replacement for him. I might try to convert him out of 1 of the Lem Han I get, but I'd need some form of armored shrew. Cy suggested getting my hands on a Sandshrew miniature (if they even make those lol).

Hmm could have sworn I saw a model wip for Lu Pang out there by apparently I'm losing it.

It was probably just the regular Lem Han sculpts

Lol sadly that would still make it about $150 without including any characters lol. That is purely the chicken cav and likely cost of Shu hares. The price is completely reasonable and fare for what you get, but unfortunately is a chunk of $ for just having the models since on one out here plays :/

Btw the Red Wu have an error on the web store entry. In one place it lists them as 5 models and the other lists them as 4 models.

hopefully the Warband will be out shortly (needs the Lem Han and the Dynastic King to be released).

It should have 1 Dynastic King, 2 Red Wu, and 1 Lem Han.

Though that might be changing with the price difference since Red Wu are becoming Chugokan Color Guards and will be 5fd instead of 10.

No WIPs as far as I'm aware. Currently debating between having Dan or Bob do it. He's a big boy (Pangolin), and we can currently only do so many of those at a time... And Arctos Nevsky has dibs on the next big boy spot.

Chugoku is getting a lot of love these upcoming months though: Hua Poi Key & Lao Yi, Shu Hares, Changshu Dun.

We're really glad Chugoku is finally getting some fans, they were last out of the gate because of how little interest we were getting for an RTK army.
