So I’ve just gotten back into FoW after 4 or so years so I thought I’d make a Late War Soviet army from the Red Bear book. I made these two lists from the models I had:

1. Udarny

Compulsory Udarny Strelkovy Batalon HQ - 1x CinC Rifle, 1x 2iC Rifle, 1x Battalion Kommisar (40 pts)
- Anti-tank gun Platoon - 2x 45mm, 2x Horse drawn limbers (50 pts)

Compulsory Udarny Strelkovy Company - 1x Command Rifle/MG, 12x Rifle/MG (280 pts)
- SMG - 4x Replace Rifle/MG with SMG (0 pts)

Compulsory Udarny Strelkovy Company - 1x Command Rifle/MG, 12x Rifle/MG (280 pts)
- SMG - 4x Replace Rifle/MG with SMG (0 pts)

Udarny Machine Gun Company - 1x Command Rifle, 8x HMG (220 pts)

Gvardeyskiy Tyazhelyy Tankovy Company - 1x Command KV-85, 2x KV-85 (335 pts)

Artillery Battalion - 1x Command Rifle, 1x Staff, 8x 76mm Zis-3, 4x 122mm obr 1938 (305 pts)
- Observer - 1x Observer Rifle (15 pts)

Air Support - Limited Il-2M Tip 3M Shturmovik (225 pts)

1750 Points, 5 Platoons

See I like this list because I love overkill amounts of artillery and the KV series tanks. I don’t think its as well rounded as the next one.

2. Udarny

Compulsory Udarny Strelkovy Batalon HQ - 1x CinC Rifle, 1x 2iC Rifle, 1x Battalion Kommisar (40 pts)
- Anti-tank rifle Platoon - 4x AT Rifle team (45 pts)
- Anti-tank gun Platoon - 2x 45mm, 2x Horse drawn limbers (50 pts)
- Sapper Platoon - 5x Pioneer Rifle team (115 pts)

Compulsory Udarny Strelkovy Company - 1x Command Rifle/MG, 8x Rifle/MG (195 pts)
- Kommisar - 1x Komissar (15 pts)
- SMG - 4x Replace Rifle/MG with SMG (0 pts)

Compulsory Udarny Strelkovy Company - 1x Command Rifle/MG, 12x Rifle/MG (280 pts)
- Kommisar - 1x Komissar (15 pts)
- SMG - 4x Replace Rifle/MG with SMG (0 pts)

Shock Scout Platoon - 1x Command SMG, 2x SMG (100 pts)

Shock Anti-tank Company - 1x Command Rifle, 6x 45mm obr 1942 gun (140 pts)
- Transport - 1x horse-drawn limber per gun (5 pts)

Assault Gun Company - 1x Command SU-122, 3x SU-122 (170 pts)

Flame-thrower Platoon - 2x FT team (90 pts)

Artillery Battalion - 1x Command Rifle, 1x Staff, 4x 76mm Zis-3, 4x 122mm obr 1938 (280 pts)
- Observer - 1x Observer Rifle (15 pts)
- PTRD Anti-tank rifles in Howitzer Platoons - 1x PTRD Anti-tank Rifle (10 pts)

Air Support - Limited Il-2 Shturmovik (200 pts)

1765 Points, 6 Platoons

This one has more AT options, one extra platoon, and a platoon that can recon and infiltrate. But I think that flame throwers are risky as they have limited range and only one use. And I don’t see the use of Komisars as they’re “Fearless/Trained”

Anyway and thoughts on the matter would be great.
Thanks.

One thing I'll ask before commenting- Can't Udarny Strelovky take flamethrower t-34's? I would try and get some of those in the list.

Maybe its me but I think I would swap the 45mm gun platoons for something beefier for more reliable anti tank. Theres a reason why they're a bit on the inexpensive side in late war

A combination of 45mil guns and AT rifles would probably be ok for defensive fire when holding an objective.

The 45mm guns are awesome in defense, the volley fire rules really make them a tough nut to crack! It is why nobody I used to play with would even field their 251's. Don't forget that you can direct fire the 76mm guns and still fire a bombardment with the 122's. It makes for a really potent combination if you are playing defense.
