Depends on your list. Baron is amazing but situational - in a vacuum, I'd say Archon because you can kit him out to do whatever, while other options need support from your list.

I have an archon and a heamonculi, and I sometimes use a proxie for Leith. Personally, I think the archon is your best option, as Painbiro pointed out, you can kit the to suit your army. A Haemonculi are just plain fun to use, and you get loads of pain tokens. As for characters, Leith is, in my opinion, the best option. Drop her and a wych squad in a unit of IG and you'll see why.

I had a str 64 archon in my last game vs tyranids, Play him.

Archon, shadowfield, huskblade, blaster, soultrap.

CHARGE!!! I had him with a 2++ re-rollable in the front of my haliestar, the swarmlord thought he could take me. He got huskbladed (6's to wound with re-rolls thanls to doom) for his troubles, i got str 8. Blastered a spore, str 16, charged other spore, str 32, and butchered a T-fex. Str 64! AWESOME!

Also note: Some of the people in the poll arn't HQ's but part of the court of the archon, while you havn't included the Duke, ALWAYS include the Duke.

Why are you leaving the two best DE HQs of the list?

Vect is a bad

ss who can stand toe to toe with any other named character and come out on top, whilst Duke Sliscus is the ultimate utility HQ.

I can see you not wanting to drop 240 points on Vect

But the Duke is only 150 points and gives you:

- Deep strike on all non-flier vehicles. (read deep striking venoms and raiders)
- Allows you two role twice on all drug rolls(wyches, hellions himself etc) and pick which effect you'd like
- Warriors and Trueborn poisoned weapons wound on a 3+
- to top it all off he has a 2++ save, a Blast Pistol, CC are poisoned at 2+, combat drugs(see above),
- and if you're still not convinced if you roll a 5+ to wound the attack automatically becomes AP2.

TLDR: Run the Duke.

Edit:
If the reason you didn't have the Duke in your list is because he doesn't have an official model that just means he's easy to create. Run an Archon with duel venom blades or a venom blade and a blast pistol and boom you have yourself an HQ.

Sadly no, but you can always just stick a Sslyth head on something and call it the duke

If you want fluffy good -

Archon plus Royal Court. Arm him with a Husk Blade and Soul Trap.... If I am right, the Llamean will give him 2+ Poison, the Medusae weaken the enemy before your assault, the sslyth and the beast are just CC monsters...

Otherwise the Duke. Definitely the Duke.
