I've been trying to decide whether to get the model air or the model color from vallejo. I don't have a gun yet which would make the decision pretty easy, but I plan on buying one fairly soon. Is the model air perfectly good for brushwork or is it completely set up for airbrush only. On the flip side how easy is it to thin down model color for use in an airbrush?

I use both ... and their game color line too in the airbrush and with a brush.

Model air works fine either with the brush or airbrush with no modification.

Game color and model color I will thin using the brush and more so with the airbrush. I use windex and/or plain water. For metalics, glaze medium.

Buy a brush with a .35 nozzle as it is more user friendly than smaller needle sizes. It is less picky for how thin your paint is and is great for base coating vehicles and single figures. With practice, your trigger control will improve for highlights etc in small areas.
