Hi all
Just got back into Warhammer 40k after a looong time away. Interested on people's thoughts on the following Eldar starter list I am aiming towards:
HQ:
Farseer
Fortune
Doom
Spirit Stones - 130
Farseer
Guide - 75 (will swap this out for a roll on the divination chart)
Troops:
10 Guardians
Warlock w Conceal
Scatter Laser - 135
10 Guardians
Warlock w Conceal
Scatter Laser - 135
6 Rangers - 114
3 Guardian Jetbikes
Shuriken Cannon - 76
Heavy Support:
Wraithlord
EML
Bright lance - 155
3 x War Walkers
Scatter Lasers - 180
1000pts
Basically the Rangers would deploy in cover with the prescience seer, with the war walkers nearby (farseer uses prescience on the walkers)
The guardians, farseer and wraithlord would advance toward the midfield. The farseer fortunes something, and dooms whatever needs to die the most.
Jetbikes will move-shoot-move and then look to take an objective or go for line breaker late on.
Thoughts?
Automatically Appended Next Post: I just wanted to add, that this is an Ulthwe themed list, so it has to have something along those lines. E.G duel Farseers, or a Seer Council, or LOTS of guardians. I'm just a bit surprised no one has replied. I was hoping for a few pointers. I'd also like advice on how this list could be expanded to 1500 points. Cheers

Ulthwe= Gaurdian Spam.
So your going to make an Ulthwe list so you cant use aspect warriors (much). Which is the opposite of me (I play Biel-Tan) which I spam aspect warrors. But the other player in my store has an Ulthwe army and we play games together quite a bit. So I can help you.

HQ:
Farseer
Fortune
Doom
Spirit Stones - 130 You really need to give him Runes of Warding and Runes of Witnessing
Farseer
Guide - 75 (will swap this out for a roll on the divination chart) Give him Runes of Witnessing so its easier to cast those Psychic Powers (also give him spirit stones)
Troops:
10 Guardians
Warlock w Conceal
Scatter Laser - 135
10 Guardians
Warlock w Conceal
Scatter Laser - 135 I would suggest throwing both behind an ADL w/ quad gun
6 Rangers - 114 Make them pathfinders and MAYBE (its up to you) get another squad
3 Guardian Jetbikes
Shuriken Cannon - 76 AT LEAST add another 3, also a vyper w/ scatter laser would help. ALSO get two of these squads
Heavy Support:
Wraithlord
EML
Bright lance - 155 change EML to scatter laser or Shuriken cannon
3 x War Walkers
Scatter Lasers - 180 Perfect
You are forgetting something, its called a Fire Prism, keep it behind the ADL w/ the gaurdians
1000pts
Basically the Rangers would deploy in cover with the prescience seer, with the war walkers nearby (farseer uses prescience on the walkers) again, perfect
The guardians, farseer and wraithlord would advance toward the midfield. The farseer fortunes something, and dooms whatever needs to die the most. keep gaurdians behind ADL, I would get some storm gaurdians and throw them neat the WL, or just throw the WL back w/ the gaurdians
Jetbikes will move-shoot-move and then look to take an objective or go for line breaker late on. yes, just more bikes and a vyper
Thoughts?
Your Ulthwe right? You know who leads the Ulthwe craftworld? Eldrad. GET HIM

For the two squads of gaurdians, change maybe ONE of them to storm gaurdians. You also have three Elite slots, USE THEM! I would suggest Wraithgaurd w/ spirtseer, Harlequins, and *gasp* Fire Dragons. Also you could use that last HS slot for a Falcon (they arent as bad as people say. Hope this helps!

List looks tight for the goal you are going for. The major thing you are missing is runes of warding(which you might want on the seer you keep in the back) so you can shut down psykers. Against psychic choir bugs or daemons you will lock up most of the army with ease.
Fortune is not that critical, as you have nothing that is that strong or that in need of fortune.
Eldrad is fantastic, but a bit too much for 1k. You could drop both seers and shave points elsewhere to get him, but I think Eldrad should be reserved for higher point games.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Actually I think that list is pretty tight, achieves your goal and should work ok at those points. I've been playing a similar list in an escalation campaign (though no Wraithlord and two Wave Serpents) and the Guardians do better than they'd seem.
I'd personally say you don't need two Farseers, if you want to spam powers though do go with Eldrad, though YMMV and if you luck out and get Forewarding the stack with Fortune is crazy.
Personally I'd say Conceal isn't worth it on Guardians. Your issue is that they're still going to die in scores and at LD8 they will break and run off the battlefield (and if you're stupid like me and put your Farseer in with them too and they break, then you lose him too -.-') Go with Embolden, trust me, its cheaper and better and especially if you take an ADL you should have enough cover not to need it. Use the spare points to up the Rangers to Pathfinders (this is usually better than adding any extra men anyway).
TL;DR
Eldrad Ulthran 210
Rangers
pathfinders 120
Guardians
Scatter Laser
Warlock
Singing Spear
Embolden 128
Guardians
Scatter Laser
Warlock
Singing Spear
Embolden 128
Jetbikes
Cannon 76
War Walkers
SLs 180
Wraithlord
EML
Brightlance 155
997
Either way, go for it man, its not a bad list!
