Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

If you're having trouble keeping small base models standing (like Ork Stormboys), I've found an easy and fairly inexpensive solution to your problem! Take some green stuff or even super glue and place a nickel under the base. They fit perfectly around and are not quite the thickness of the base so it doesn't effect the profile of the model at all. For less than a dollar you can outfit an entire Stormboy squad, making them more substantial and much easier to manage. It's also really funny to see peoples' faces when you ask for change in nickels. I hope this helps some of you out with this small but annoying problem. Happy wargaming!

Same idea, but often the mini is just unbalanced and you can use a penny to counterweight it. Nickles usually work too, but cost 4c more and sometimes you just need to change the weight distribution of the base.
I'm a cheapskate.

Bit of a problem when you encounter slottabases though. UK Pennies are perfect for this role, probably the only reason they keep them in circulation.

Personally, I stick to gluing smaller bits of heavy scrap metal (chunks of white metal runners, squashed lead pellets, etc.) to the underside, on the rare occasion when a model needs it, and only as much as is required to make the model reasonably stable. Coins fill up too much of the base's cavity for my tastes - I like an empty cup that can get a good grip on a grassy slope or nestle down over/into uneven terrain. With the lead/white metal bits, I can pound it flat for general weight or line the rim to counter-balance a leaning model without sacrificing that traction, as I would with a coin. Don't need to worry about slotta bases, either.
