Okay, I love my Slaaneshi daemons, but the Greater Locus has me stumped.
Grace I understand, perhaps on Seekers to defend them from Difficult Terrain rolls, or as a bit of a point filler to help Daemonettes make it to combat. (Though Moving Through Cover countering the I1 of assaulting through cover would have been even better...)
Beguilement, of course; rerolling misses is huge, and picking Challenges is the icing on that cake.
But +5I? Why? Where is it useful? The Daemons are generally fast enough to strike before most of their enemies, unless Cover is involved, but the +5 is applied before their I becomes 0 for assaulting through difficult terrain so who cares? Unless I'm wrong, and they are +5 I to the 1 they get after such an assault, which would be useful.

I feel the same, upon reading the daemon codex I couldn't work out what it was for.

Maybe it's only use is protecting against other Demons.. Nurgle's psychic power with -D3 initiative..
It's a stretch, I know.
Still striking at I10 helps against some targets, enemy Demon Princes/Greater Demons for instance.
And you'll strike first against other close combat characters like Space Marine captains and such.

What's so complicated? Do you want to strike first a lot of the time or all of the time?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Fiends. At I4, they are the slowest Slaanesh unit, but with +5I they aren't.

From a fluff standpoint, maybe because it makes them faster than Eldar, their preferred prey?
Dunno really, but as my primary opponent typically plays Eldar or Tyranids, it is kinda nice to out-initiative his Harlequins and Genestealers.

Don't they have those grenades that make us strike last anyway?
