I might already know the answer, but Fire dragons saw a huge increase in points. Is the ability to run and then shoot, or shoot and run plus the armor save increase worth the increase in points?

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Is it worth it? Yes in my opinion. Battle Focus really helps them get into that magical melta range and the armour helps them survive the following turn.

What you really need to decide is if you need your anti armour from them specifically. The rest of our anti armour has got a lot better (cheaper Bright Lances, more distort weapons etc)

Personally I'm going to look elsewhere for my AA I think (Wraithlord with dual lances)

I agree on the I think other units can do AA better. My twin Bright lance war walkers stayed the same price gained a 5++, and a better BS.

Now that bright lances aren't horribly overpriced on everything, they have a lot more competition for anti-tank. The price increase, while fair enough, makes them less attractive as 5-man suicidal tank killers. I would probably take one squad per army still, as an insurance against heavy armour and super elite monsters. I would consider pumping the squad up beyond the usual 5-6, and/or giving them psychic support and/or an accompanying character. With battle focus and the 3+ armour this might enable them to be a real f-you unit, rather than just disposable. Bloody expensive though.

10 fire dragons, exarch w/fast shot - 240
Wave serpent - all shuriken cannons, holofield - 140
Farseer or killy autarch - 100+

Probably a bad idea compared to alternative melee units. But the farseer could support them from further back within another unit - 11 shots rerolling hits will make a mess of almost any elite unit or mc.

Eldar Corsairs: 4000 pts
Imperial Guard: 4000 pts

Corregidor 700 pts
Acontecimento 400 pts

I know this is a different topic, but I don't think I'll ever not take a scatterlaser on a waveserpent. Twin linking the shuriken cannon and the d6 shots from the shield (if you can afford to not use it for defense) - talk about potential anti-flyer!

The fire dragons took a slight increase in cost, but really it is bringing them back in line, most armie pay 10 points for a melta gun and 5 points for melta bombs, here we get both and 3+ armour for only a 6 point increase from last edition. and we haven't even discussed the battle focus and fleet special rules. I think they are still a value purchase, we have just been spoiled by our previous codex.

I do encourage you to begin thinking of everything in your army in the perspective that shamikebab presented. Is it needed in your list anymore? There are many many tools in the Eldar codex again, and now you have to decide which tools you're bringing to a fight.

I agree that they are not an auto include at 80 points anymore... they're way better... but maybe not needed for every list.
