Subject: Should the Necrons get a walker like tau and eldar?

I was just thinking that Necrons could do with a walker much like the new eldar wraithknight or riptide. Something around the same size, Necrons have some ok looking models but I feel lack any biped larger models. All troops are the same size and all larger models are either vehicles or machines with tails or multiple legs.
Maybe something like the proto reaper, I would love necrons to have a wraithknight sized metal skeleton perhaps with a huge gauss cannon hand. Perhaps early Necron experiments in the now totally gone pariah line of thinking. You could make them fluff heavy say that they were incomplete and to have one on the battlefield is very rare as they were only half finished. They could be all half built, covered in scarab repair bots. Could look really cool.

I can't see why they shouldnt, and it wouldnt be difficult to do due to their skeletal aesthetics... Games Workshop should really get to work on this, they even lack colossal sized forge world super heavies....

Well, the thing is it doesn't ... fit. The Eldar have a Wraithknight, something that's right home with the Wraithlord and Wraithguard. The Tau have a gigantic mech, well, makes sense, they are always trying to improve their weaponry and they are kings of the mech-suits.
I think many CSM players don't like the Maulerfiend / *something*-fiend but it's a gigantic demon-forge beast. It's very good looking and it does look chaos like.
The ones that don't make the minimal ammount of sense are Demons (the cannon thingie) and GK (the baby carrier... so, FUGLY).
A gigantic humanoid MC doesn't fit with Necrons at all, and I'm hoping GW keeps at least a minimum ammount of respect with their lore and release something a bit more appropriate.
But yes, I would love a "standard 40k" MC for my Necron army, although the Forgeworld one is beautiful. (and let's not forget we have the C'Tan for MC goodness)
P.S: Proto-reaper was one heck of a letdown and I want it to be dead and buried

I think the closest we'll realistically get is the necron canoptek tomb sentinel (which btw... is aweeeesome! Rivals the Forge World Chaos Great Brass Scorpion in beauty... in a weird ugly way haha)

The proto reaper was a disappointment for me too lol although not as much as ME3 was
Even so im still hung up on the last codex of the necrons. Even though I myself just started a Cron army I miss the old feel even if it was lacking. things in the update just dont gell with me, like necrons actually having pilots for vehicles instead of having the vehicles pilot themselves with A.I like the spyders. Necrons needing transports at all also doesn't feel right
But I would love just alittle taste again of ancient machines of horror, the proto necron lol could have been one of their experiments because I always imagined they would try to work with things like indoctrination and adaption of other lifeforms like the reapers do. Hell I'll even take necronised support troops like husks lol
Make the necrons scary again >_<

The best part of 40k is, if you can find players who are willing, if you both agree, you can change a few things and have some REAL fun with it. Me and a few of the lads do it all the time, like adding primarchs and giving them ridiculous hero rules such as "roll 2 d6, if both d6 are each 6, the primarch leaps to the targetted unit [within 12 inches], Use the apocalyptic barrage template to target additional troops"
you could add crazy indoctrination rules such as "roll as many d6 as there were troops killed in the last assault phase. 5+ brings back their troops to fight for you."

The Wraith Knight doesn't fit the Eldar aesthetic at all. It's basically a mini-titan/gun-platform which makes no sense being in an army whose entire theme is being fast and mobile.

to some degree i can see where you are coming from, but in all fairness I can't see anyone legitmately using the wraith knight in anything less than an apocalypse game, at which point it becomes eldars only real defence against other titans. So all in all, it's a model that was needed for the sake of larger games.

From the codex: "Looming ghost warriors many times larger than even the mighty Wraithlords, the war machines known as Wraithknights are still dextrous enough to run through the ruins of a shattered city, leaping from pillar to spar as their arcane weapons bring oblivion to the enmies of the Eldar."
It's a Jump MC. That thing if it wants will reach your front line so fast you won't even have time to say "ouch"

A giant Necron beastie would be rather cool and fitting, I think. *BUT* it would just seem like a cop-out to have it as a standard humanoid design. I'd much rather see some kind of spider-legged centaur like that-special-character-whose-name-I-done-forgot, or just go the whole hog and have a giant mechanical spider.
...no, not THAT one...

Something equivalent to the reapers from the Mass Effect series for a necron super heavy walker then maybe? I could see that working, but I just don't think i can see GW doing that kind of thing

I'd say the Triarch Stalker or the Tomb Stalker would be the Necron equivalent. Necrons are already pretty well supported by GW and FW as an army.

Why do Necrons need what other races have? if not having walkers works, why do they need them?
Next, the OP will be wondering why Necrons stink in close combat as opposed to Space Marines...

If Necrons want a large model they already have the Monolith. The Ghost Arcs are one of the largest transports in the game. Another large model would almost be too crowded on their side of the table.
Another MC wouldn't be an issue, but its pretty much a size issue for me.
