Another thing to add to speed up painting would be to slow down when you are painting where one colour meets another. Basically work around the border of an area where a colour goes a bit more carefully and then quickly fill in the block of colour after you do the border. It sounds slower, but when you make less errors, you save time.

GW washes are okay, but the advantage of an oil wash is that you can go back over with a swab with some thinner and clean up the high points, making the figure look cleaner and give the illusion that you highlighted it. You can get water soluable oil paints if you don't want to mess with thinner. You can also use artist acrylics for the same process, but you've got to do the clean up before the paint completely sets or it won't come off.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.
