If I use the Overcharge (or whatever its called) profile and an Early Warning Override on my Riptide, but roll a 1 for the "gets hot" test, can I shoot the Ion Cannon in the next shooting phase?

Interceptor says if the rule is used then you can't fire the same weapon in the next shooting phase, and gets hot weapons that do not roll to hit says the shot is not fired if it fails. If the weapon doesn't fire does it use the interceptor rule? It specifically says they can be fired using it, so no fire = no use?

Or rather does rolling the gets hot roll constitute using the interceptor rule, because you don't have permission to shoot otherwise? Trying to fire = use?

Just something I have been thinking over, and wanted to make sure I wasn't out of my mind before it came up in game!

Thanks!

The moment you declare a target you have "used" the weapon so as far as I can see, it cannot be fired next turn.

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

The weapon is used, just like you don't get to fire a weapon next turn just because you rolled to hit and missed, or because the target passed all of its saves. All that matters is that you attempted to shoot something with it, whether or not you then fail one of the rolls necessary to successfully kill something is irrelevant.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
