Thanks, I spent a while getting those eyes painted.

I don't like the sound of it either but I don't think I'd drop out of the hobby completely, I still really like collecting and building minis, it's just the painting bit I keep struggling with.
Making slow but steady on my Giantess:-
She's not looking too bad.
And with Season 5 of Warhammer Underworlds on the horizon, I felt like tackling that particular backlog again:-
Jumpy Goat Man is back on the table.

Man, looking at those results it is hard to believe that you struggle with the painting side of the hobby. Your painting style is just so smooth, and I really like your overall palette and colour choices.
The Giantess is looking great. I notice from the first WIP shot of her that you work top down, I have seen other people do this but do not really understand it myself...is there any particular reason or benefit to this style of painting? Or is it just a personal choice thing.
Loved your work on Cursed City, and I am happy to see purple Undead any time.
Anyway, I hope the motivation side picks up, your painting is great. I will be making the effort to pop in more often.

It's just my stupid anxiety issues, it was bad enough when they just played havoc with my painting mojo, but now they're making me anxious about the hobby itself it's getting annoying.
I don't think there's any benefit to painting from the top down, it just comes from me trying to get their faces painted up first and liking to work on my minis in sections.
Mr jumpy goat/deer legs (Games Workshop) is all finished:-
I'm really pleased with how the little water bit of his base turned out.
Giantess is almost done, somehow never realised I didn't put any primer on her base, so I'm just waiting for that to dry.
Got a new Underworlds mini on the table, Angry Warrior Woman:-
Haven't done much yet.

Since you can't see that much of angry lady's armour I decided to keep it a simple steel and bronze scheme.
JoshInJapan wrote:I like the jumpy goat guy. One doesn't often see green and purple as a combination. Very bold.
Thanks! Yeah, I never really think about whether colours go together, luckily they do most of the time.
Got the Frost Giant Heroine (Reaper) all finished:-
For a mini where I kept things pretty simple, she looks fairly decent.
Angry Lady is a bit further along:-
I'm pretty pleased with her cape.
Also painted a base:-
Haven't done much to the Robo-Nun that goes on it though.
And a cuddly little Halfling Gangster:-
Gotta think of a suit colour.

Sorry to hear about your anxiety issues, it can be truly crippling and difficult to deal with.
I am interested in your initial painting process, is is a white/bone undercoat then a sepia wash just to get an idea of the details and dome shading?
The Frost Giant lady and Chaos heroine look great...as for the suit I say a vibrant green if going bright or a cool grey if going lighter.

Yeah, the wash is mainly there to help me make out the details, but, after skipping that step on my Giantess, I learnt that getting all the nooks and crannies shaded helps a surprising amount too.
Oh, and good call on green for his suit, he looks rather snazzy!
Viterbi wrote:Great work on the finished Giantess and really looking forward to the halfling gangster, that's a concept I haven't seen done before.
Thanks!
I've painted a couple in the past, not sure if they're in this thread or not:-
And my painting still hasn't improved even after all these years
So, managed to finish my gangster (Wolsung):-
He painted up rather nicely. It's a shame the Wolsung range is kinda dead, they had some neat ideas.
Almost finished the warrior woman:-
Just waiting on a fresh bottle of Brassy Brass to highlight the shield trim.
The lack of said Brassy Brass also put a stop to my robot nun:-
It was going very slowly anyways.
So Chubby Lamplighter has returned:-
Plus Calculus:-
Unfortunately, I'm probably gonna need Brassy Brass for these two at some point as well (I use it on pretty much everything) so hopefully it arrives at the end of the week like it's meant to.

Yeah, Wolsungs Scylla faction was definitely one of the more unusual ones out there.
Finished two things! (despite having a bad cold I can't seem to shift), first there is my Angry Warrior Woman (Games Workshop):-
Really pleased with how she came out, looking forward to painting the rest of her team ...eventually.
Also painted a skeleton (Games Workshop):-
Came out okay considering how speedily (for me) I finished him.
Not much progress on Lamplighter though:-
I keep breaking bits off and have to set him aside while the glue dries. Good thing I'm not a gamer, I'd hate to have to transport him anywhere.
Also not much progress on Calculus:-
I'm getting there, just very slowly.

The Chaos Warrior Woman looks great. Is the Lamplighter meant to be a gaming piece? His staff-thingy looks like it would get in the way pretty much from start to finish.

Yeah, Lamplighter is meant for gaming (he's a Malifaux mini), not quite sure he was designed for it though.
Viterbi wrote:Always such a great mix on your desk, love all the WIPs (although as a SoB player I'm partial the the supreme robot nun leader ).

Robo Nun is coming back to the desk next, could take a while to get done though, she's not as fun to paint as I thought.
The whole household is struggling with various cold/flu/other problems that just won't go away, so not a lot of painting going on.
I did manage to finish both Calculus (Guild Ball):-
And Chubby Lamplighter (Malifaux):-
Not my best work on either of them, but at least they're done.
Also continuing to very slowly chip away at my Underworld stuff, I'm working on a Sea Elf:-
The cape is rather rough, but it's the best I can manage at the moment.

I've got plenty of Guild Ball stuff still to paint.
Speaking of which, I finished another mini, Hammer from Guild Ball:-
Not super happy with him (I never could get rid of all his mold-lines), but it's another one done.
Still slowly working on my Sea Elf:-
It's turning out to be quite a hard mini to paint.
As is Robo Nun:-
But I'll get there eventually.

Yeah, I'm really happy with the purple skirt, just wish the rest looked as good.
Finished another mini, Indra the Sea Elf (Games Workshop):-
He's okay, just seem to be lacking in the painting skills department lately (And I was never that good in the first place).
Next in the Underworlds queue, Yrkill the Sky Dwarf:-
Just painted their flight suit so far.
A small update on Robo Nun:-
She has a head now.
Plus Hercules:-
Trying to make a start on my Reaper stuff I got in their last Kickstarter.

The plan was to just pluck them randomly from the big box I dumped them all in.

The Robo-nun is getting there slowly, I really should have made life easier for myself and left the left arm off though.
Haven't really made enough progress lately to warrant an update, but thought I'd explain what's going on.
Basically, the cold/flu/other I was fighting most of October, turned out to be other, namely Covid.
I'm now fine but my housemate also caught it and wasn't so lucky, she eventually got over it, but it's really effected her mentally, and it's made looking after her (I'm her live-in carer) a lot more stressful.
I try and do a little bit of painting when I can, but I have no idea when/if I'll actually finish anything.
So I'll see you when I see you folks.

Love the purple cloth - it is very sumptuous.
And hopefully your grim situation gets better. Everyone I know who has been impacted by Covid has been hit bad at the worst possible time, so I hope you stay strong and get some time to paint some minis.
