I'm wracking my brain to make an 1850 list for an upcoming tournament.

My basic thought is this .... 2X Dakka flyrants and 3 tervigons. My main drawback to this is it feels like there isnt enough of an offensive threat on the table. Is a list that includes those models as a base a good place to start? Or is making a list with 2 tervigons better, as you can fit more offensive firepower into a list?

Overwhelm the enemy with an unrelenting onslaught of the hive mind.

My answer is a very solid maybe. There are pros and cons to both 2 and 3 Tervigon builds, I recommend play-testing both builds to see which one you prefer.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"

Generally id lean toward two Tervigons, but as PrinceRaven said, try both and see which you prefer.

Id prefer to save the points and get some heavier hitters instead (Zoans, Ymgarls, Doom, DakkaFex's etc)

I've play tested a lot and for the tournament scene, I think you gotta roll with 3. Objectives are primary, not killing the enemy. And at 1850 I still fit 2 flyrants, Doom and 2 trygons.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

I've also tested quite a bit and encourage you to use three. I've written quite a few Batreps using my current 1850 list, and I'm 8-2-1 with what I'm currently using. Here's an 1850 list I took to a GT and did fairly well with. Notable however is that this was before the Tau/Eldar update, and I think Nids do better than before vs Eldar.

Of course, plenty of people have used and like 2 Tervigons, and there's certainly merit to doing so. But, I think you can still cram plenty of killing power in.

Shoot bring 5 and drown your opponent in bodies. Feel the power of horde armies .

No but really bring 2-3 and fill out your list with Dakka Fex's, doom, maybe even a deathleaper (pretty funny to see doom work in tandum with this guy), and some gargs.

You could also try Zoan bomb with doom. Pretty fun to have 5 3d6 leadership tests going on in turn 2
