Hello fellow members of Dakka!
Over the last year or so, I have created a Pre-Heresy Emperors Children army, and I want to step up my game regarding painting techniques, thus I would like to try some freehand. I have some experience with art, so I can draw moderately well, but my painting skills are abysmal, so, Dakka, what are some good, basic ideas for the 3rd Legion?

I always thought of them as more baroque than anything else.

For example:



Lots of cherubs and floral decoration. They were also into lots of statues and filling every space with decoration.

Have you seen the FW recent Pre Heresy Emperors Children models? They look really good. I see them as cadbren suggested. Perhaps Angels wings verses cherubs like Fulgrims large wings on his armor. Also they showed lots or ornate swirly lines on the armor (not sure of the proper design name)
