For a new player to FOW I think that's a tough list to play with. You've got to have a really good understanding of assaults to use the Gepanzertes.

If you are set on running them, then I think you need to carefully consider how you are going to both Smoke and Pin your enemy (provided it infantry of course)

If I were you, I'd look to start with a fairly generic infantry company, then add some flavour as you get experienced at assaulting, using smoke, pinning, stormtrooper, etc

Hi and welcome!

Is this the Gepanzerte Panzergrenadierkompanie from grey wolf?

If so you've chosen a nice balanced army!

There are a couple of things I would personally change, the Stuka zu fuss I'm not a big fan of.

But more importantly any list in Fow (IMHO) is recon and smoke - you'll discover why once you play - but basically helps with ambushes and not being shot!

I'd think of this list

Hq
2 platoons of three section of panzer grenadiers - command with Faust
1 platoon of three section panzer pioneer with a Faust
3 Pak 40's
Half tracked Panzerspah platoon (1 section)
2 15cm nebs (rocket launcher battery)
4 panzer 4's

Hi, I'm very new to FoW as well, and I have seen this advice quite often (smoke and recon). I get the reason for smoke but could you explain further why recon is so important?

Thanks.

But there is no more stirring sight in war than the charge of massed cavalry."

Recon has two uses really.

Firstly when you're attacking the enemy they can push back the range in which ambushes can happen, basically keeping them safe.

The other reason is they can lift 'gone to ground' when a unit is concealed and hiding they are 'gone to ground' and harder to hit. So lifting 'gone to ground' means the enemy is 1 easier to hit.

Recon is also good for harassing the enemy, giving them something to think about/waste shots on.

As long as your recon don't shoot and have cover, they are also 'gone to ground' even if they move.

Then when your opponent thinks, yeah I'll have a crack, they 'disengage' meaning your opponent gets to fire one shot, the Recon moves and the remaining shots are taken.

However, as Reaver83 said, mostly used for lifting gtg.

So what is better. Rocket artillery, Armored rocket artillery or standard gun batteries. I changed the list a little, dropped the pioneers and added 4 Panzerwerfer 42s with crew.

Nebelwerfers are probably the most cost effective artillery in the game, they smoke, they have a decent firepower and are cheap! The armoured ones, i think look very cool, but get expensive imho.

German artillery never really sets me on fire

I also went ahead and dropped in two LelG18s to fill a 70 or so point gap. Thoughts?

They're a solid smoke unit. Make sure you hide them well as the rest of army is ideally charging down the field.
