All the info needed to playtest the new ships is basically out now, minus the dials... would be interesting to start trying out a few cards though. Auto blasters are looking sick, and the basic tie bomber price is pretty attractive too... lot's to chew on here!

Autoblasters are cool, but only those two ships can take them right?

I was thinking Lambda and B-Wing. I don't own slave 1, so I've never seen that icon before

Some useful upgrades and weapons coming out soon, dying to try them when my B-Wings get here sometime this year. Should probably add a HWK and TIE Bomber to those.

Is it me or does the Proton Bomb dish out a face up damage card to every ship it hits? Someone care to correct me about this?

You are correct. Every ship, except Chewbacca because of his ability, takes a critical if they are hit by a Proton Bomb, shields up or not. Sucks to be an A-Wing driver and get tagged by the Direct Hit you might receive from a Proton Bomb.

Gotta Say, I'm really looking forwards to seeing the B-wings maneuver dial; unless it's spectacularly bad, I could see B-wings really rivaling the X-wing for Dog-fighting ability. Lower Agility, but over twice as many Shields and barrel roll, for only a minor point buff. Fire Control and Ion Cannon upgrades definitely look like they would make up for the loss of the Astromechs (heck, Fire Control is a straight-up improvement over R5-K6).

My favorite rebel ship gets a barrel roll?! I...I'm so happy... I'm ordering four of the fethers now, not three!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

the B-wing is just a slightly upgunned Y wing with reversed shields/hull stats (and the ability to barrel roll.) The only thing that will really differentiate the two is going to be equipment.

That doesn't change the fact at all that my favorite rebel ship can barrel roll. Don't try to deny my joy!!!

That's like saying the X-wing is just a TIE fighter with reversed attack/defense and some shields. Even assuming the maneuver dials are the same the B-wing is much more durable (fewer crits), has a respectable primary weapon that can actually function without buying weapon upgrades, and has the cannon and sensor upgrades the Y-wing can only dream of. On the other hand the Y-wing is cheaper (assuming both get upgrade guns or don't), has a 360* turret to compensate for its limited maneuver options, and can take droids to turn it into a serious tank. They're going to be playing very different roles in your list.

I assume this will be the last preview from FFG. They're definitely following a different schedule than last time, because Wave 2 released a week after the last preview article, but this time they're still not even On The Boat yet :/

From asking around, I've heard september is the general release, although they'll probably be available at GenCon.

I hope they are. I just got into X-wing Monday. I am loving it. It's a good substitute for Aeronautica that I've been missing. Definitely want a B-wing.

A Koiogran 2 on the B-Wing?

Already loving it.

Bank 3 red though. Interesting...

A 0(red) maneuver for the Shuttle? That's unexpected.

Liking them already. Get here now my B-Wings and Bombers, daddy has plans for you...

I really didn't think they'd be on sale at Gencon when they're still listed as At The Printer on the website. So hopefully they'll be On The Boat real soon...very exciting to finally see these dials.

FFG has all of the ships but the Y-Wing, and the Interceptor.

Wave 3 was behind the counter and while in line you could get tickets to buy up to 2 of each ship. It is a free for all today.

That b-wing dial looks interesting. It's more maneuverable than an X-wing at combat speed (1-2 maneuvers), thanks to that 1-red turn and 2-koiogran. It looks like it could rival an X-wing for dog-fighting ability, although it could be more easily bogged down due to its inferior fast selection (3-4 speed).

The 2-koiogran especially looks interesting- I can't be the only person whose found themselves wishing they could do a 180 without moving so far from my targets. Probably sucks at jousting though...

Initial marginally-informed theory:

B-wing: looks like it won't be replacing the X-wing entirely despite the superior attack/defense numbers. The B-wing can turn well enough to keep the HLC armed at a target, but isn't going anywhere very fast. And looks like autoblasters are probably going to need a character + engine upgrade + PTL to use them with any consistency, making them a one-per list choice. But still, nice stats, and even a basic B-wing with fire control looks like a pretty good deal. I'm looking forward to the B-wing most, which makes me happy since I've always loved the ship.

HWK: still not really convinced. Maneuver dial doesn't really matter on a ship with a 360* turret that mostly exists to hand out buffs to everyone else. But it feels like it's just too expensive to get those buffs compared to just bringing more ships.

Shuttle: same as the HWK. Sucks in a dogfight, probably going to bounce off everything on the table, but at least you still get the special abilities. Better practice your formation flying though, with that large base to get in the way of everything.

Bomber: I don't like it, even if it does turn better than a B-wing. When it doesn't have secondaries left it sucks. When it does it isn't all that impressive. With proper support (especially the bomber character handing out re-rolls) it shoots well, but it's incredibly expensive. It feels like getting an effective bomber or two takes up most of your points to get a weak version of a HLC B-wing list.

I think Ten=Numb (The uncanceled Crit Guy) is the only pilot who would get any mileage out of the things. Everyone else would probably want either the Ion or Laser Cannon. I'm thinking the "Generic" B-wing would be a Blue/Dagger Pilot with Fire Control and Ion Cannon. 27/29 points, can disrupt the enemy early on, and then kill what they disrupted with their free target lock.

I think of it as being an alternative to the Y-wing Ion Cannon- it's more fragile, but only costs a few points more for some really useful support abilities.

IMO I'd rather have the HLC than the ion cannon. The ion is nice on the Y-wing because of the 360* turret, but I feel like the B-wing should be doing more than one damage per turn. So IMO the generic B-wing is blue squadron with FCS (X-wing substitute) or FCS and HLC (long-range gun platform, but committing to a 3-ship list).

I suppose, but that lack of 3/4-speed maneuvers is going to hurt with a range 1-2 gun and only 1 attack base. It seems like the HWK really wants the blaster turret and then probably a recon specialist to make it work.
