Hi, all.

A question for the use of Commissars. The Codex states that if you attach a Commissar to a squad of infantry, upon failing a Leadership Test the Commissar will execute the model in the squad with the highest Leadership Value, after which you can re-roll for the Leadership Test.

My question is; is the second Leadership Test unmodified or not?

To use an example I came across in a game I played last weekend: I had a Combined Infantry Squad with and attached Lord Commissar. My Combined Infantry Squad lost a sub-phase of Assault by six Wounds, so I had to take a Leadership Test of 10 (Lord Commissar’s Leadership Value) minus my unsaved Wounds, resulting in a modified Leadership Value of 4 for the Combined Squad. I failed this, so my Lord Commissar put a bolt shell through the face of the nearest model and I had to re-roll the Leadership Test. However, do I go back to rolling a Leadership Value of 10, or do I have to use the modified value of 4?

Isn't the Lord Commissar stubborn?

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

I, I don't know.

Ok, assuming he is, can I pose my question but replace a Lord Commissar with a standard Commissar? Would would happen in that instance?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Re-Roll, roll a dice again. The same modifiers that applied to the first roll, apply to the second.

The only difference between the first dice roll and the reroll is that with the reroll you cant choose to reroll if you fail.

You dont modify your roll with your losses right? It remains 10 regardless of how many guardsmen died?

Thanks, guys. I didn't spot that Commissars are Stubborn. That makes my OP moot.
