I have been looking up various Warhammer Lizardmen pictures for a little project of mine recently, and I'm trying to isolate the typical style elements of them.

The basic answer so far is 'make it look Inca-like", but it has proven far more complicated to nail down what that actually entails. The lack of made structures, and clothing doesn't help either.

This is what I've got so far.
- patterns of alternating triangles
- no flat surfaces, ornaments on everything
- no small round forms (blocky looking snake and dragon symbols)
- big circles and sun symbols (cog like ridges)
- trapezoid ornamental pieces (pretty much all worn attire)

Anything to add?

Hi!

What is the project about?

You could maybe add colourful feathers to the list

Hi,

I'm intrigued now, what's the project about??? And another thing that I've seen on scratchbuilds and freehand lizardmen is astronomical stuff, like star maps and constellations etc.

I'd say it's closer to Mayan than Incan, tho any Mesoamerican or Southern American culture would be encompassed, they're certainly what I'd be painting if I was a fantasy player.

For the Lion and Terra!

Because nothing in the galaxy is black and white, Mankind views the Space Marines as a last resort. The last line. When all else fails. They take up the burden. The noble defenders of Mankind. The last hope.

With finecast you can bypass the washing stage and throw them straight into the bin.

Or cut out the middleman and just flush some money down the toilet.

Level of decoration tends to denote importance. So important temples and what not would be made of the finest materials and have a large amount of gold + other precious items on. You can see this in the lizardmen miniatures, it tends to be the more important have more metal/gold/jewels/decoration than the rest. (A good example is from the carnosaur where the hero option Kroq-Gar is covered in decoration and so is his mount Grymloq)

Thinking about doing a Lizardmen conversion for 40k in the style of the beastmen miniatures that float arround on Dakka.
