Recently read the Deathwatch novel and between that and SM getting a new codex, I have developed an itch to start a Death Spectres army.

Never heard of them before reading the novel. Are there any other BL books or other sources of DS fluff out there that the group can recommend?

edited to add "?" to subject.

They show up for 1 paragraph at the end of Rebel Winter, as far as I know theyre all albinos in the chapter. Seems cool though, and I know they get a couple brief mentions in the Astartes Codex.

Also reading Deathwatch right now, about 3/4 finished. Great read IMO, one of my favorites so far. The book has really got me hyped up on the Deathwatch....what a force!

Also, as the OP mentioned the fluff behind the Death Spectres is great reading, I'm looking forward to more on this chapter.

Thanks Tiamat. I went to the Lexicanum while I was reading the novel. The book has more info than that or the wiki, but will see if any of the listed sources look promising.

Was hoping (perhaps in vain) for some other BL books that featured DS characters.

ConsecratedIron - I think I have the SM codex around here somewhere, will have a flip through it.

OK, read Headhunted short story and zero DS fluff. Story features Talon Squad, but assumes the reader already knows who they are. The synopsis of Exhumed makes it sound like more of the same so don't know that I will get H&B #2 just for that. Hopefully the rest of the stories in Heroes of the Space Marines make it worthwhile

Doesn't look like the Death Spectres got their equivalent of the Soul Drinkers trilogy (yet!).

Now, where is that codex...

The author of Deathwatch admitted that he'd pretty much created all the fluff for the Death Spectres for the book. The other two Deathwatch things he wrote focus entirely on the characters within that framework with basically nothing said of their Chapters of origin.

They are in Angel of Fire also, but other than mentioning that they are pale with black eyes, no background.

Well here's hoping that Parker gets the opportunity to do some more stories featuring Death Spectres outside the framework of Talon Squad.
