On the back of a hog.

Maybe a dumb question but:

How do you determine if an IC is takes a hit from a blast marker? Is he hit just by being under it?

The BrB says that the unit is hit for how many models are under the blast. So can't I just say other models are hit?

And if so, how would this apply to psykers under a mindstrike missile blast?

Blasts work normally whether there's an IC in the unit or not - wounds are allocated to the closest model to the firing model.

Mindstrike missiles are slightly different - they cause a perils if you're under the marker, regardless of your position to the firing model. Nothing is allocated - it's just causing a perils.

Ignoring Perils for a moment... in terms of allocating normal Wounds, bear in mind that an IC counts as a member of the unit, then consider how Wounds are usually allocated from the nearest to the firing unit first.
Hint - you don't actually hit the specific models that are under the blast marker, regardless of ICs - you hit *THAT NUMBER* of models.

I just want to add a minor point.

IF the IC is within 2" of the "other" unit, then they are considered the same unit as the IC is joined to it and Super Ready is dead on.

IF the IC is outside of 2" of the "other" unit, then it is it's own separate unit and the blast will cause 1 hit on the IC and the rest hits on the "other" unit depending on how many of those models are under the marker.

A simple example is a large blast marker ends up over a squad of marines and Lysander. Where Lysander is 3" away. Totally possible and *both* units receive hits.

clively is correct, as long as the unit was more than 2" at the end of the movement phase. If casualties such as look out sir have already removed models in such a way that the model was in 2" but is no longer, then they ARE still the same unit, even if they were halfway across the board.

If it a blast that does NOT have the barrage rule, then hits are allocated by the normal wound allocation rules.

If the blast weapon DOES have the barrage rule, woulds are allocated as per barrage.
