Hey folks, hope I've got the right section of the boards for this. As a kid, I picked up some 40k models back around '00 and bit by bit had a little collection of Eldar models. I've recently gotten back into the hobby, but mostly for the painting. I've got a few friends who play and there's a fairly strong group of players here. Money's tight so I want to buy towards a playable army. Here's what I've got so far:
Spoiler:

Troops:
14x Guardians
Storm Guardian upgrade pack bits
10x Dire Avengers (2x Exarch)

Elites:
1x Wraithguard
2x Fire Dragons
5x Striking Scorpions (1x Exarch)

Heavy Support:
2x Wraithlord
1x Falcon

HQ
5x Warlock
3x Farseer
1x Maugan Ra
1x Baharroth

I know it'd be better if I came here with at least some semblance of an idea of what my army would look like, but I'm not even sure where to start. I'd like to have a general-purpose 1k and 2k army. If I had to guess, from what I've read/seen it'll be DA heavy for troops with WL or WW heavy support, bikes for my FA and farseer for HQ.

If anyone feels like tossing me some specialization ideas too, I need a bughunter list to take on my friend's Tyrannid army.

I really appreciate any advice you all can offer and apologize for coming so unprepared. Thanks in advance!

*Edit*
Just to clarify, I'm looking to expand my army beyond the units I have (not just build an army with what I have), but I want to buy smart, so suggestions on which troop packs to pick up next are greatly appreciated.

The Twilight Zone

First off, welcome to Dakka!

Second, with what you have it will be near impossible to even field 2k worth of models, much less have it work. 1k is doable, but still a challenge. As far as builds, you can go mech, foot, bike, wraith and any combination of those. For what you want, it sounds like you want a mostly foot list, with DA troops, Walkers/ wraithlords for heavy. Farseers also work best on foot, and guardian jetbikes are good for any list.

With what you have, I would make a 1k like this.

HQ

Farseer
Warlock

Elite

ScorpionsX5. Exarch w/ claw.

Troop
GuardiansX10. Scatter laser
Dire AvengersX10. Exarch w/ shimmershield and power weapon.

Heavy
Wraithlord. 2 flamers, 2 bright lances
Wraithlord,
Falcon- Scatter laser, holo fields.

Nothing great, but decent with what you have. Farseer can hang with the guardians or avengers and cast buffs. Wraithlords and falcon provide long range AT and shooting. Falcon can transport small squads, scorpions if you want.

Another note, get a couple of wave serpents. They are just too good in this book to not have.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. I'm mostly looking to use what I have as a foundation and buy into what I need to expand to those point ranges, so please don't hesitate to suggest 'You should be looking to buy _____ next".

Since I'll mostly be playing friendly matches for now, I'm figuring to proxy my falcon as a WS. I'll get my hands on the codex and try to get a few games in with that set up, just to get back into the gameplay.
