So I've taken a break from my lizardmen army and have been caught in the sneer of the hive fleet and been commanded to build a great and deadly Hive Fleet (still need a name open to suggestions) so far all I've got is a lector as there the one of the first to make planet so makes sense to start with them I am thinking about going with a greyish flesh tone topped with a orangie shell what dose everyone think ???

Sounds fine, but make sure to work in a 3rd color for the soft flesh. The human eye finds odd numbers appealing, and it adds that much more detail.

Considering you are using a muted tone for soft carapace and a highlight for hard carapace, you should probably focus on a second highlight on the soft flesh. Perhaps a green?

I was thinking about using a green wasn't to sure tho im gona do a test paint on my lector and if it looks good rest of the fleet will be done the same
