Let me start off by saying that I love the SM love released by GW this month and have been eagerly anticipating any new models/options that might be coming out. Let me also say that I hold very few illusions about being able to copy the box art in way of my skill.

Having said that, I would like to say that I opened my Centurions package today to mixed feelings. I looked over the sprue as I always do, my mind overflowing with ideas and potential. I was ecstatic; that waned when I got to the decals. I noticed the same old decal sheet that I received over ten years ago, maybe with a different part number, but the same options.

I paid around $80.00 USD after taxes for this one kit and hoped for some better decal options. This is a specialized set and under most companies, can only be part of 4 different squads. The box clearly shows squad decal markings for the 10th (X) Devastator squad and the 8th (VIII) Assault squad. Using the many decal sets I currently have, I can mimic a rough approximation of the markings on the shoulder pads, but my issue is this:

The squad makeup has not changed since I have been playing 40K; with the exception of the reserve companies and the 1st Company (and codex deviating chapters), the 7th and 8th squads are assault and the 9th and 10th are devastators. Is it too much to ask that decal options be made easier to obtain than they are. Building a custom chapter, I already spend some money having custom decals created and cannot seem to find relatively inexpensive decal sheets which work numbering the squads.

I know I can look on ebay and there are other options on Forge World (if I want to spend $20.00 for a single sheet good for at the best 2 full squads) but I feel GW should make more decal options for squad markings available.

Don't get this, what options are you wanting on your decal sheet that isn't currently there?

Decals? I used decals once for some Tau a long ways back, but I've never liked how sterile they look. I always freehand stuff now, not as easy but makes all my stuff more unique. I didn't think anyone actually used them, I never see them on the TT, and I haven't seen display armies with them, I guess they could add some new ones though.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

Lots of people use the decals. Those who don't often don't paint markings on either, or don't paint their minis at all.

2500pt Red Corsairs Army
WIP Hive Fleet Piranha
WIP Lizardmen Army
