Not sure where this should go, so I'll drop it here. Anybody got a list of dimensions for ork vehicles? I'm planning on scratchbuilding some stuff, but I don't have the slightest idea what size they should be.

Ork vehicles are generally pretty open on sizes as long as they're modeled well and not blatantly modeled for any sort of advantage. People have used every GW kit out there as a base for kitbashes, fro the Land raider battle wagons, to the land speeder buggies, rhino-trukks, Devilfish, falcons... Even scratch builds.

I usually just start with a grot, an ork and a nob for scale, then start building. Using existing models as a scale reference helps keep the dimesnions in check and you can refer to existing pictures of other models with miniatures next to them for size comparisons.

Okay these are rough Top down Demensions for the "official" ork vehicles as they are now ..close is great ..it does not have to be exact ..but dont try to use a buggy as a battlewagon or even as a trukk ( I redid my old trukks so they are close to the new trukk in size) since the old ones were barley larger than a buggy

Trukk~3"W x 5L"x 3"T (accesories sometimes stick out but the trukk and RAM fall inside this)
Buggy~2"W x 3"L x 2.5"T
Battle Wagon~4"W x 7"L x4"T This includes a ram Deffrolla adds to lenghts other accesoories mught stick out ..normally the cab section is about 3" wide ..
Looted Wagon ..Yea demensions are the parent vehicle..Normailly in the 3x5 to 4x6 range thou ..but can vary
Grot Tank 2"Wx3Lx2.5"T
Dakkajet ~8" Long 10"Wing Span and a 1" to 1.25" fusalage
Big Trakk ~4"x6" not including deffrolla (Chimera)
Grot MegaTank ~4Wx7Lx4T same size as battle wagon ..mabey a bit smaller not to much thou
Kustum MegaFortress..BIG ~(6"x10"x6")
and when scratchbuilding the deal is RULE of COOL if it looks good and is close to the approximate sizes most will not object (oh and you dont have trukks ranging in size from grot tank to battlewagon)

Just dont go over board by making things to big or to little and you should be fine

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Note Accessories often stick out or above..(Wrecking balls and Boarding planks, DeffRollas)
Trick is to keep the vehicle close in size to original ..each can and should look unique ..ie no two Battlewagons should look identical Meks do not build like that ..however at a glance your opponet should be able to tell the trukks from the wagons from the buggies ..

I'd like to point out that the battlewagon had an odd shape dimension wise. It's front is 2 to 3 inches then gets to the 4inch mark at the mid point. But again with scratch building the dimensions are really more like guide lines.
