Flower Picking Eldar Youth

Hell aka Kingston upon Hull

*makes shooting noises and choppy choppy sounds*

Right, its been a while since I was last here (no home internet as our ISP is overpriced and far too ineffectual for what we got out of it, so we cancelled it), so now after many months I return like a blight on the galaxy
I decided a do-over was best, as currently I’m working on doing a 5k Eldar craftworld of my own making, and this is the start. As I’m using public computers, updates will be once or twice a week depending on available access at the library. But enough of that, those who know me will wonder why I’m doing el pointy ears, well simple answer is this… 20 years ago when I first started, Eldar are what got my attention and got me started with GW. Now with a new book that finally suits them again for the first time since 3rd ed, I decided it was time to collect them seriously, instead of the dribs and drabs I had previously.
The Craftworld is of my own making (its name unknown but referred to by other Eldar by a nick-name of sorts), as is the colour scheme, and what follows, as ever, will be a short background story and my stepped army lists, building to 5k. The plan is to update with photo’s as and when models are finished as well. I’ve a couple done now, but the battery is dead on the camera so will have to wait until next time… lol. The theme itself will be self-explanatory (I hope) from the background story, and so in turn will explain the army lists.

So that’s it for now, Papa-Nid signing off ^_^

*picks up hemlock Wraithfighter and strafes the keyboard with it making shooting noises*

“die inferior human Mon’keigh!!!”

Background Story:

Spoiler:
Amongst the Eldar, there is a legend which tells of a Craftworld inhabited by ghosts, and these tireless beings walk a path of pure crystal in search of retribution against their most hated enemies. To the race as a whole, this legend remains just that, a legend. A legend sometimes told at great Masques by the enigmatic Harlequins in the form of dance, as well as fables told to children so they might learn the lessons of their forbearers. But to a few Craftworlds, they know it is more than just a story.
It was during The Fall, as the last of the vast Craftworlds sped away from the Crone worlds that this legend began. As the backlash at the birth of “She who thirsts” tore a hole in realspace, ending countless lives upon countless worlds, the shockwave buffeted and tore at the Craftworld of our tale. The storm was both physical and psychic, tearing at the continent sized ship. Many died as catastrophic damage ripped through its innards, causing its beautiful and elegant wraithbone structure to buckle and breach, venting into the void beyond. Towers toppled, power failed and engines went silent. Quietly into the dark void she drifted from sight toward the extremities of the galaxy, until the vessel was nought but a speck among the stars; akin to that of dust upon a spring breeze.
As the silent jewel of wraithbone drifted out into the cold dark nothingness of the universe at large, desperation swept through the people on board. Chancers and cowards took to the craftworlds protective fleet and fled back toward the safety of the galaxy, while those brave enough to remain helped in the repairs with that of the Seers and Bonesinger’s, lest the ship be lost forever to time and space. In desperation Councils were held, and runes were cast, all in the hope of finding some form of help against the dark fate they had been dealt. Just when all was thought lost, the Craftworld ceased its seemingly never-ending silent fall. At the furthest extremities of the galaxy, looking into the dark universal void, the silent sentinel clung on with all its might. Staring into the black abyss beyond, the Craftworld had halted like some form of prey knowing a cold uncaring predator waited beyond for it, yet behind it, unable to return to the fold from whence it came, the shimmering stars of its home glittered and shone like a cloak of precious gemstones worthy of the goddess Isha.
As if the occupants of her vast hold had not suffered enough at their escape from The Fall, plague had begun to sweep the survivors during the following millennia like some cruel cutting joke. At first the victims did not die, they simply began a slow decline into a kind of torpor, then after a protracted period the body began to rot away while the mind was still lucid but unable to communicate within. Partitioned from the unaffected portion of their society, the infected sent forth an envoy to beg the Seers of the Council to allow them to pass into the Craftworlds Infinity Circuit before their minds were lost forever to the plague. After a debate which lasted centuries, the Council agreed, and out of this tragedy a new hope sprang. Slowly, as the many thousands of victims passed into the comforting arms of the Infinity Circuit, power returned to sections of the ship which hadn’t been touched in many a millennia. Crucially, this included the portals which allowed access to the interspatial corridors of the Webway.
At the dawn of the 41st Millennium by the calendar of man, with the pathways restored, the Eldar of this once lost Craftworld have returned back after almost ten thousand years of unwarranted exile. With their vessel unable to return from its new mooring, its people found their race scattered and on the brink of extinction. Now they strike back at the galaxy at large from inside the Webway, hoping to abate the doom which awaits them. With their numbers now depleted, and their Aspect warriors considerably less numerous than before, the people of the Craftworld haven’t slowed or steadied their icy retribution as more and more heed the call to war within themselves and walk the path of the warrior.
Like vengeful spectres, they watch the galaxy which had spat them out. Occasionally returning to it, to affect the skeins of time as their Seers dictate, they arrive like silent baleful spirits within roiling mists at the dead of night and vanish without a trace once more when their task is complete. Their kin, through the legend, gave the people of this Craftworld a new name, one which they have embraced wholly and emphatically. This name is Ygg’drannithar; roughly translated it means “Silent ghosts of the crystal path”. Now patiently, like their namesake they wait to make their next mark upon the paths of their future.

Welcome back, a lot has happened since last you were here. You have plenty of catching up to do,

nice background story. the new paint scheme should be a real wonder to view, what with it being based on that story. I have to ask though, since based on the comments above and your statement that you started around 20 odd years ago, if it would be possible to see pics of your old paint scheme(if you had one). maybe i can learn a thing or two for painting my own Eldar forces.

fav movie quotes: "Well let's put her in charge man! - - "Step up to red alert." "Are you sure sir? It does mean changing the bulb." - - "The escape pods not an option, it escaped last Thursday."

you ask for pictures after i sold all my old stuff lol... so yeah... bit difficult that one lol. Plus my old army was Biel-Tan, and I pretty much stuck to the aspect colour schemes themselves rather than make my own up.

I promised pics, but as I got to the library I remembered I left my memory stick at home

one of them days... I left my bank card at home too lol... well I promise pics of the wave serpent and half completed wraith knight upon my return, as they both have gotten a lot of attention at my flgs.

until then peoples, stay frosty

Yes that's the one it was spot on so a break down would be cool if you have the time or remember, as your memory seems a little foggy these days LOL.
