Hello,

The autarch is lackluster toe-to-toe versus other hq variants; however, seven attacks on the charge seems like a wonderful amount of chop to throw at anything not T6
Suit him up with wings, mandiblasters, and a chain sword for a 100pt model. Ranged weapons are optional to keep the cost lower.

2 S3 hit from hammer of wrath and mandiblasters
5 S4 statline attacks + scorpion sword + pistol

I have not math hammered him out yet.

Delivery system? Spiders, scorpions or harlies would probably do him good. I have not tested the spiders, the autarch may not be able to keep pace. Harpies are probably too expensive, but the amount of dice they can throw would pair well. Scorpions could use his dice weight to evaporate targets, although they lose infiltrate and what not. Getting them across the board without an assault vehicle would be a pain and footslogging across is not the healthiest approach IMO.

This is all hammer hypothesis, as it has yet to be tested. Personally, I prefer to keep my hq cheap this edition to put more dakka on the board. I actually only go with a mask and maybe a chainsword, fusion gun, catapult, or spinner. He rides with guardians (I am working with an anti-aspect eldar army (blasphemy, I know, my buddies dropped their jaws when I told em.

A few things wrong with this. First he wouldn't hold a candle to anything T5 anyway even IF he had that many attacks. But he doesn't, he has 4 attacks base, 5 on the charge. Scorpion chainsword doesn't add attacks. Then you can't seriously rely on HoW hits to do ANYTHING to a marine or equivalent. IF you wanted this sort of HQ then you should have the Firesabre for the AP.

But all of these fall in comparison to an Autarch with laser lance, fusion gun and mantle of the laughing god on a Jetbike at everything (Survivability by a lot, killyness by strength which he always has since he can Hit'n'run outta combat and shooting because of Fusion gun, and of course speed). The Autarch is either a combat scalpel or an extra exarch, nothing else works.

+1 on charge
+1 for the pistol
+3 statline
+1 hammer of wrath
+1 for mandiblaster
= 7

Is there something wrong with that?

You are certainly right about combat surgery or an extra exarch. No denying the effectiveness of the jet bike or running him cheap as foil. I do the latter. Just putting out the idea of a middle tone between the two polarities. He can't do what his jet bike counterpart can, but he also chops a bit more than the 75pt autarch. Indeed, this build would benefit from a firesabre. Overall. This build has a case of "bringing a knife to a gunfight"
