Hi,
about time that this small company from Lithuania gets its own thread. They make a nice series of PVC wargaming mats with good design, 4’x6’ (122 x 183 cm), £33.99 each plus postage.
Shipping to European Union countries is 2.5 GBP for the first item, 1.5 GBP for every additional item, shipping worldwide is 5 GBP for the first item, 3 GBP for every additional item.
Here their current range:
http://www.deepcutstudio.com/
The following one is currently on preorder for 10% less:
They come folded, but with a bit of effort and cross-rolling, you get the folds out.
A wargames terrain mat is made from high durability PVC, which is resistant to scratch and tear as well as various food stains. You can even make notes on it with water based pen and clean it with a piece of cloth later. PVC does not ‘remember’ its folding lines. Once out of the package, let it lay for a while and it becomes smooth again.

Bummer! Too expensive to ship a long tube internationally, I guess? Other than that, they seem great.

I strongly suspect a short bath in moderately hot water plus a few minutes' cooling on your tabletop will solve that easily enough.

I remember stumbling on this company when I was looking for a gaming mat solution. Very cool stuff, especially the starfield for space battle games.
If they had an urban design I'd have jumped on it, alas...

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.
8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.
Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

The name is a bit misleading, since the matts are not "cut" in anyway, let alone deeply, with detail. Look nice in pictures though. I'd love the space one.

I was about to ask if you could just use a iron to get the fold out. (I've never ironed PVC before... Wasn't even sure if you COULD iron it.)

Isn't PVC a form of plastic? I'm not sure taking an iron to it is a good idea if so.
That said, I will definitely give these a look tonight. Some mighty nice looking mats.

Real interesting, hope these dont have to shiny/slidey a texture otherwise it may make it a bit awkward to play on, but would be a good thing to get for playing different games on other than usual green

no, its not the best idea if you have an iron that only has 2 settings, off and OMGWTFHOT
I've gotten folds out of PVC plasticard with a "warm" iron, so I cant imagine this not working Automatically Appended Next Post: kestral wrote:The name is a bit misleading, since the matts are not "cut" in anyway, let alone deeply, with detail. Look nice in pictures though. I'd love the space one.

Received my mat today, so great service and It looks great. Currently got it hanging up to knock the creases out and it arrived in a very sturdy tube to protect it on its travel. Great service and product for the price, very happy with my purchase.

You cannot iron this kind of PVC. It will melt very easily, even at low temps.
I've seen these mats first hand and they are outstanding.
I like the swamp one on particular.

Do they all have that logo on them in one of the corners? That's a deal breaker, right there if they do. Logos should be on the back.

Mine had a logo but tbh it doesn't bother me in the slightest it's pretty small when the size of the mat is taken into consideration.

I wouldn't call it a deal breaker; the logo is small enough to drop a bit of scenery on if it annoys you that much.
Has anyone heard anything about that pre-order? I noticed it's passed but I didn't get any notification (just a paypal receipt at the time_.

The space mats are amazing. If I still played BFG or another spaceship battle game, I would get one in a heartbeat.

A gaming mat supplier in Europe is nice, Will probably end up buying from them if they make a desert mat someday.

I emailed them about the pre-order, got a reply pretty quickly (~3 hours) saying that they were shipped out Monday and people should start seeing them turn up early next week (5 working days to Europe).

The one I received was folded lengthways and then rolled, in a tube.

There's no reason for it to be on the top surface at all, regardless of whether or not I can cover it with scenery.
This is why we can't have nice things. People just accept things that shouldn't actually be acceptable.
"Cover it with a piece of scenery."
"Fill in the finecast bubbles with some liquid greenstuff."
"Gladly pay the same for a digital book as a real one because "convenience" somehow has as much value as the entire logistics chain that used to get dead-tree fibers out of the trees and into your hands."
