Ok I need a critical eye thrown over my 1000 point list for a doubles tournament
HQ will be a level 2 librarian with digital weapons
One squad of five with a grav gun and a veteran sergeant with combi grav, chainsword and melta bomb,
Second squad of ten with a plasma cannon, melta gun, veteran sergeant, grav pistol, chainsword and melta bomb.
A third tactical squad with a multi melta, plasma gun, veteran sergeant with plasma pistol, lightning claw and melta bomb.
Transport will be a razorback with a lascannon and two rhinos.
Heavy weapons will be a squad of three centurions with 1 lascannon and one grav cannon.
I'm thinking that I need three scoring squads for objective games and I'm hoping that the combination of grav weapons and a nice mix of heavy weapons will take care of any high av vehicles or monstrous creatures. I suppose I could combat squad the heavy weapons and use them as mini 'devastators' and place the rest in the vehicles for objective hunting. I haven't played many 1000 point games so I'm not sure what to expect

If its doubles then wouldn't your battle brother be bringing troops too? If so, you could probably get away two troops. Just a thought, no point in both of you maxing out on troops. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Oh right. Still... Might be worth the gamble, surely they'd have to be bringing at least two troops? What's the minimum? Is it normal foc each?

looks like you'll be ok against big mean creatures, but you might struggle against hordes
at 1000pts I don't know how many TEQ units you'll see, so the grav weapons might not be your best bet, plasma or melta instead maybe?
which chapter tactics are you looking to use?

I was thinking Imperial fists. A friend suggested a chapter master with the shield eternal but that's at least 215 points!

Good point. I've got a stalker model I could use but that's a bit of a waste if there are no fliers. How often would a flier turn up at a thousand points? I suppose I could go the missile devastator route for around 170. Decisions, decisions

Depends on your area. My Ultra SM army has 2 in 1200. Orcs, Necrons and Eldar have a fair few in my experience. Might be a consideration for you.

The stalker can also engage skimmers and Flying monstrous creatures. and up to 2 of them a turn as well, S7 will shred a lot of light skimmers immediately, and even put the hurt on things like wave serpents. even if there are no skimmers, flyers and FMC's, you can fire in dual mode aginst ground targets, you will have to snap fire, but thats still 8 S7 shots. For 75 points it strikes me as a bargain in any army.
As to your list in general, i would suggest trying to minimise the number of upgrades you get for your units, they really start eating up points in smaller games.
Your small squad of marines with grav guns is imo a bad choice. when they move they will only get 2 shots at 9" range. a much better platform is bikers, or centurions, since they have relentless and can fire at max range all the time. 5 bikes with 2 grav guns and a combi grav + melta bombs cost 150 points, which is only 5 points more than your 5 man squad + transport, and will have 6 grav shots all the time, and 9 when you use the combi grav.
As to the centurions, mixing the weapons is imo a bad idea, you should go all grav cannons, or all LC/ ML, mixing them means your unit will be mediocre at busting armour and heavy infantry

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I don't have any biker mini's Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok second go around.
Chapter master with artificer armour, power weapon and shield eternal,
5 man squad with melta gun, veteran sergeant with a combigrav and melta bomb in a lascannon razorback.
Second tactical squad with multi melta, plasma gun and a chainsword and grav pistol on a veteran sergeant.
5 man scout squad with heavy bolter and landspeeder storm
Five man devastator squad with missile launchers and flak missles.
And a thunderfire cannon.
Comes to 998... if I've done the math right

With the chapter master having the shield eternal, there is really no reason not to give him at the very least a lightning claw, he can't get a bonus attack anyway. Personally, if I were to have a beat stick IC as you have I would give him a thunder hammer. 2+/3++ 4w and eternal warrior mean unless something is seriously nasty and able to kill him in one go (unlikely) he will always get to swing back.
The chapter master is also a big points investment in a smallish game. It would add a lot to your force to have a librarian, and even at ML 2 is still a lot cheaper than a chapter, master, although you do give up the orbital strike and close combat killyness
As to the rest of your list. Unless you are kiting out your squad sergeants for close combat I would avoid spending the points on the veteran sergeant upgrade.
Missile launchers are not the weapon I would choose, at 5 men with ML plus flak missiles you are 20 points more expensive than a squad with 4 lascannons. I can see them being useful if you run an IF list with tank hunters, but 4 shots at S9 AP2 with tankhunters would be better against anything not flying. Also a 5 man Devestator squad will quickly start to lose effectiveness for each casualty over the first. Unless you take cheap upgrades like heavy bolters I would suggest at least a few more bodies, and if you have a full squad you can split them into combat squads allowing you to have say, 2 heavy bolters and 2 lascannons In different squads
Since you have it, a stalker is a MUCH better platform for taking on flyers and skimmers in any case.
And thunder fire cannons, every marine list should have them, it's a shame they aren't troops!

Another fair point however I thought that the missile devastators would be more versatile at a 1000 points especially since the stalker can only snap fire at ground targets. Plus with the signum you can get one shot at bs 6 and the tank hunter rule from the IF tactics

Missile launchers are one of those weapons where you pay for being versatile by spending lots of points for 2 (or more) abilities, both of which are mediocre. Lascannons for only 5 points more than missile launchers mean there is literally no valid reason to take missile launchers, Especially because your thunder fire will adequately cover anti horde. Also consider the fact that a stalker is only 35 points more expensive than buying flak missiles for 4 launchers. You might miss out on tank hunters using a stalker, but it is a much better choice than flak missiles IMO
