I guess the time to finally introduce myself has finally arrived! I got into wargaming about 4-5 years ago when some of my friends and in-law family members drug me kicking and screaming into 40K. When I decided to finally get my SM army built, I went (to the chagrin of most) Ultramarines, mainly because everyone was avoiding that chapter for whatever reason. Therefore, the decision meant that my SMs would never be confused with someone else's army. After purchasing more than my wife should ever be allowed to know, I went on the big painting binge, but burned out quickly due to work and graduate school. Then, everybody switched gears and started playing Warmachine/Hordes. So, I made the jump as well, as I was ready to get back into the wargaming with Warmachine (Menoth) and have gone on to pick up a troll army in the process (which still sits unbuilt in the wrappers). MY wife is now working on her Hordes (Circle) army I bought her (135pts worth - what was I thinking!)

Well, about a month ago I started getting the 40k bug again and went back to work on my ultramarines. After a rather large pre-order of new sm stuff, getting a limited addition codex in the mail last week (#56 of 500 - I will let you guess which cover I got), I am excited to get back to painting again. Of course that means my Menoth & Trolls won't get painted anytime soon, but I don't care.

While the buy in for Warmachine/Hordes is considerably less than 40k, I REALLY like the genre of 40k, which is why I have gone back. Sure I drank the smurfberry flavored kool-aid for my SM army, but its my hobby. Besides, I am thinking of adding another 40k army in the future with tryanids (a good counterbalance to the Ultramarines, and easy to paint), Eldar or Tau. Maybe an IG battle box for allies, who knows.

Anyways, thanks to those who have replied to some of my other posts in the forums. I have enjoyed just looking though the different discussions and hope I learn something from everyone.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Good story, I'm sure you were kicking and screaming reluctantly... It is a good relaxing hobby to be in especially for sheepdogs and wolf hounds.

Look forward to seeing those armies painted and the in progress pics.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.
