Subject: 2000pts of Space Wolves - Bjorn or Land raider?

I'm selling my wolves off, this is the list I'm keeping. I want Grimnar and the wolfguard with the cyclone missile launcher to go with the long fangs. The wolf priest goes with the TH/SS wolfguard. Njal goes with the other squad. I also have Bjorn the Fell-Handed - in this list is it better to have 2 land raiders or one and Bjorn? 2 Land Raiders is good, but if I take Bjorn I can re-roll the first turn dice - that'd potentially get me more use from Njal. What unit/units should go in the LR? Logan Grimnar Njal Stormcaller Terminator Armour Wolf Priest Plasma pistol Runic armour Wolf Tooth Necklace 4 x Wolfguard with TH/SS 1 Wolfguard with cyclone missile launcher and SS 5 x Wolfguard 2 x Wolf Claw 2 x Storm Shield Power fist Assault cannon 6 Long fangs 2 Missile Launchers 1 Lascannon 1 Multimelta 1 Heavy Plasma Plasma gun Land Raider Redeemer Multi-Melta Extra armour Land Raider Storm Bolter Extra armour

For your list, Bjorn is not a very good choice, and a second land raider is the way to go. Bjorn works well as a backfield camper to help you go first and be an objective if he bites it. You have only 2 scoring units, and they are not exactly good at sitting there and camping around his body. The land raiders protect your terminators and get them where they need to go, and they also protect your expensive scoring units long enough to score. As far as your list, the low model count is a serious concern, so you may want to drop some toys to squeeze in some more stuff. You can toss the necklace from the wolf priest, his oath should cover CC good enough. He also does not need a plasma pistol, maybe a combi weapon but he is really an assault unit. If you put logan in this unit, you won't need the priest as logan gives you every benefit you needed from the priest, while owning in cc. The Long fangs should stick to 1-2 weapon choices, so decide on those. Putting Logan here for relentless is very expensive, as he is really suited to CC. The squad leader can toss the plasma gun as he is really an ablative wound for your fancy guns. I would go 3 missile 2 las, but there are several decent combos. The land raiders can toss extra armor. Few things can really threaten a raider, and most that can will do more than stun the thing. Stunned is a rare result, and your paying a premium just to downgrade it to shaken. Both raiders need a multi melta. Storm bolters are OK if you want them. Overall try and fit in another scoring unit, it does not have to be wolf guard.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Thanks
so If I stick Logan in with the TH/ SS I can drop the wolf priest completely.
If I do that and take the 30pts from the raiders I can fit in a grey hunter squad I think.
In this list, would it be better to have 6 and try to hide them completely or go for the full 10?
If I use them as a backline unit, should they go plasma or melta?
How do well would eldar allies work with Space Wolves? I can't remember how much allies of convenience interact.
Will Njal's 'shakey stick of screw you' still stop eldar farseers too?
I've not touched my wolves since 4th ed...

For backline, plasma is best for range. 5 for scoring won't do much, but 10 is fairly strong. They can also use a land raider and you can always footslog your terminators, its up to you. Also, on your second WG squad, run the fist/wolf claw on the same model(if you can), so you get the extra attack but the ability to choose which weapon to use. Regular terminator wolf guard do pretty well in 6th as cheap and effective. Also, thunder hammers are not as nessacary as they were, and you can save points by running power fists. The I1 is still kind of useful, but it is rare you stun something and not kill it. Shaking tanks is not as big a deal either with hull points and snap shots on shaken. Njal's screw you stick will stop your farseers, and his tempest will work against them as well! Since rune priests are all but mandatory for most wolf armies, eldar and wolves don't work very well.

Thanks again - I'd not even thought about the tempest attacking me.
You've given me a lot to think about
