Hi, this is my first Chaos Space Marines army list. I'm looking for some help to make it better. HQ-365 Chaos Lord: Mark of Nurgle, Bike, Power Fist, Lightning Claw-140 Daemon Prince: DP of Khorne, Power Armor, the Black Mace-225 Troops-540 Plague Marines: 10 Marines-240 Plague Marines: 5 Marines, 2 Plasma Guns-150 Plague Marines: 5 Marines, 2 Plasma Guns-150 Fast Attack-460 Heldrake: Baleflamer-170 Heldrake: Baleflamer-170 Chaos Bikers: 5 Bikers, 2 Meltaguns-125 Heavy Support-135 Havocs: 5 Havocs, 4 Autocannons-135 The total is 1500 points. I have read various articles and forums about Chaos Armies and this is what I got, but I feel like it is missing something. All advice is appreciated!

Plague Marines should always take 2x special weapons in 5man groups. Plasma seems the best choice because they also have FnP to help with overheats. Plague Marines with Flamers or Melta need Rhinos.. Plague Marines with Plasma are ok on foot.
Bikes don't need to be 7man with Mark of Nurgle, but they do need special weapons. 3-4 with duel Meltaguns is a good place to be. Compared to the last codex, bikes are super cheap.. so just take them for the special weapons, slap a mark on, and add another body.
Spawn are just.. Well, they don't score or do anything besides add another fast durable unit. Better off with a 2nd Heldrake or more Plague Marines.
If you take Havocs, take Autocannons. Probably 7man units if you do that.
Master of Deception (if Huron is your Warlord) is only really good if you plan on getting a rapid fire with a powerful unit out of a Rhino. If you get first turn and Infiltrate all 3 Plague Marine units within 18" of the enemy, it's not physically possible to get a 1st turn rapid fire without a rhino unless the enemy moves closer. If you take Huron, you need nasty units of Infantry to plan for the d3 Infiltrating units. The Plague Marines here do not benefit from this in any way besides being able to relocate without transports.. and if you roll 1-2 on MoD that will just be 10 PMs.
Your lord lacks an Invulnerable Save and his weapon is better suited for a Prince to get AP2 attacks.
Ultimately, the list is very durable at 1500pts, but is hurting for ways to actually cause damage beyond the Heldrake. If you'd like, I could show you a Nurgle 1500 that gave me a hard time.

Sure, that would be great! I haven't bought any of the miniatures yet, and I'm hoping to make it as good as possible before then, without people calling me a cheesemonger or things being too easy. Any suggestions for Elites or other things I am missing?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to make a good list that wins.
Try this?
1500
Chaos Lord (Warlord)
-MoN
-Powerfist
-Chaos Bike
-Sigil of Corruption
-Blight Grenades
7 Plague Marines
-Plasmagun x2
-Rhino
7 Plague Marines
-Plasmagun x2
-Rhino
3 Chaos Bikers
-Mark of Nurgle
-Melta Gun x2
Heldrake
-Baleflamer
6 Havocs
-Mark of Nurgle
-Autocannon x4
Herald of Nurgle
10 Plaguebearers
Daemon Prince of Nurgle
-Mastery Level 2
-Warp-forged Armor
-Daemonic Flight
Aegis Defense Line
-Quadcannon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't need Elites. Your PM are elites, and now they're Troops 'cause of the Lord. This list is good on the Force Organisation chart because it has 2 Fast Attack and 2 Heavy Support choices for the Scouring and Big Guns Never Tire missions. One of your FA and both of your Heavy Support units are very durable, as are your Troops. The plague bearers can baby sit an objective near the Aegis Defense Line, and someone can use the quadcannon to help your list against fliers at 1500pts (not many, hopefully).
The Prince of Nurgle should always roll 2x on Biomancy- If he gets two Witchfires, that's okay because he's a monstrous creature and can fire two anyways. If he gets Iron Arm, it doesn't matter what else he gets.. Endurance is great too.
You could even have the Havocs babysit the ADL.
The Lord is durable enough to take on most characters that. I'd probably roll on the Chaos warlord traits.
This is a relatively aggressive and durable list. You might find better ones out there with more Monstrous Creatures, but I stayed away from Fateweaver and stuff because it seemed like you enjoy the Nurgle theme. I'd like to see what other people say about this particular Nurgle list.

Brometheus, your list is pretty solid. Only thing I'd change is to also put a LC on the lord so he doesn't have to attack at I1.
Signmaster I'd probably put PA on the DP for sure, I'd also rather give him a black mace unless you are using him as another heldrake in a way. If you instead gave the MoN lord a bike, SoC, LC, and BBoS= pretty good stuff
Brometheus also had a very good point with changing something out with Huron if you wanted infiltrate. D3 infantry units? nominate Huron and your lord, stick them in any unit (doesn't have to be infantry) and bam, that unit also has infiltrate.

He also gets plus 1 attack for having a powerfist and lightning claw...Fisticlaws gives him versatility and power. 5 s8 ap 2 i1 attacks, yes please! or 5 s4 reroll to wound ap3 attacks at initiative? Yes please!

I forgot about the Specialist Weapon rules. Nice catch!
Hm.. good point about attaching a character to a non-infantry unit. I've been playing Ahriman every game since the book came out and I never thought to try and put him with a unit like Spawn or something. I wouldn't do that with Ahriman because he is primarily shooty, but I would consider suggesting that Huron or a Bike lord might actually do some good with Spawn..
See, this is why we check each other's work.

No problem Bro, that was the only additional thing I would do to your army. pretty good lay out.
Another thing most people don't do, or I don't hear about, is utilize the landing pad. If OP or you decide on having shooty units with a far reach (obliterators and havocs (AC, LC, ML)) I suggest getting a landing pad and putting all these units on top of it with MoT, along with a bunch of cultists with MoT and your objective. Cultists now have 6/3+ save, havocs have 3++ save, obliterators have 2/3+ save

Okay guys, I just gave my Lord a bike and some other fancy stuff. The DP became melee also. What are your guys' opinions on power weapons? I personally think that the scourge is the best.

Power Scourge is a pretty nice weapon. sadly you can't put it on your lord, champions, or anything that isn't a hellbrute or defiler Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, If you are making the Lord over 80 points then it's a necessity to kit him to make sure he can get his points back with an LC/PF combo or giving him a chaos artefact and PW

A Daemon Prince from Codex: Chaos Daemons is only a Heavy Support if you have the Greater Daemon of the same god.

What's better on a Daemon Prince: the Axe of Blind Fury or the Black Mace? Imo, the Black Mace is better because Strength no longer matters and it has AP 2 because of Smash, while AoBF already has AP 2. Also tBM doesn't lower WS and BS. What are your opinions?

black mace, ap2 and wound on 2+. Use smash against vehicles so half your basic attacks and then add on charge, daemonic weapon, any other mods (all double strength). If you were wanting to blind enemies go with a BL supplement daemon prince by giving him laying of the hands and spineshiver blade +2/3 masteries, PA, Wings, GoM (optional), spell familiar, DoT- very costly point wise so I'd personally only use this for a little higher point game (maybe at 1850 points) Automatically Appended Next Post: 345 w/out GoM and at mastery level 2, add GoM and another mastery level and he's at 385 points. THATS A LOT! and if you wanted to give skull of kerngr he'd be 425 points!? How could this be worth it? It's not unless you do a high point game honestly, 1500 points is far to little for this set up. How you play with him: roll on GoM and hope to the dice gods for either mechanoid, cosmic fate, and a number of things (mainly cosmic fate/multiple boons). You roll for psychic abilities and hopefully you get boon of mutation for MoT. then roll on Biomancy for anything but haemorrhage. You then cast a warpcharge for a spell, swoop over to the enemy while vector striking in the process. Then in the shooting phase cast your nova at full blast. You're hard-to-hit and doing some serious damage- granted everyone might try to shoot you down now if they are smart since they now have to fire snapshots anyways, giving you the choice to land and do melee depending on who isn't firing snapshots... But hey templates don't work against you (if flying), or ID, you have 3+ DTW and you re-roll failed saves of 1
