A friend and I are looking to try out Infinity with the quick start rules. We're still not sure what faction we each wish to start with but, have narrowed it down to four that interest us: Yu Jing, Ariadna, Haqqislam, and Nomads. I'm looking for a few unit to add the starter box set of each faction and some other supplies that would be a good starting point for beginners. Any help and suggestions( even if it with just one faction the you know well) would be appreciated.

I take it you mean the vanilla versions of those factions? So you guys is interested in basic Ariadna, as opposed to specifically French or Scottish Ariadna?

I forgot that there are sub-sets of unit! Yes we want to keep it simple for now ( tho a all French Ariadna squad sounds cool). I just want to know a few units to expand on the faction starter box. Also are the starter box all the same points wise?

The starters are, in general, not balanced against each other, although the ones for the factions you listed are all 115 - 125 points.

Well assuming that there is no fanciness in the starter sets, you get this for ariadna...

So in points etc they are pretty close, yeah. As to actual balance though, not 100% sure. For Ariadna I'd recommend a Tankhunter with Autocannon, maybe a Loup with Viral Rifle and a Kazak Doktor, and bump the chasseur up to a minelayer. That will put you pretty close to 100, give you some more punch, someone to get your punch back in the game, as well as a sneaky weapon (the viral rifle), and mines.

Greetings

I'd recommend using only LI for the first few games. Adding a specialist after you get to know how the basic rules work. I see no harm in grabbing multiple specialist with your first purchase.

Ariadna:

- 112, Emergency service
- Metro HMG
- Para-Commandos

All of these purchases along with previous recommended Loup Garou can be used in general or Merovingian Rapid Response Force (MRRF). Tank Hunters could be a good addition but they cannot be included in MRRF.

I'm not a fan of HI in low point games. Orders, mobility and volume of shots outweigh the benefits of HI on lower points.

Support, more LI and Prowler can be switched with Riot Grrl or Moira. Three specialist should be more than enough to give you some idea how you'd want to expand your force. With two camouflaged models this force is really nasty.

Solid list. There is little that I'd add to the starter, more LI is always good but I believe Alguacil are the next Nomad LI that will get resculpts. Tomcat could be interesting replacement of Hellcat, but I don't feel the change adds anything mayor to the force.

If you have anything more specific feel free to ask.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I have a few questions before I make my order. Does anyone think for a good addition to the Haqqislam starter? I just look for some of the plastic templates for the game and there abit pricey for templates, would you recommend getting them? Lastly does anyone suggestions on how to ease new players into the full rule from the quick start rules? I just looked at the full rule and I'm abit overwhelmed.

A good addition to the starter would be something like a djanbazan HMG or maybe a lasiq sniper. Good units to add some extra firepower. (Actually the lasiq plus the starter comes in at just under 150 points) If you can print out the download templates i wouldn't bother with the plastic ones.

As for picking up the rules if you have a couple of games using the quick start rules and the starters you can add extra units with different skills as you play in order to learn the extra rules a bit at a time rather than trying to pick it all up in one go. If you are just learning things from the rulebook its easier to do it like that than jump to 300 point games with a load of stuff that is just confusing.
